The White House said President Barack Obama supports reinstatement of a federal ban on assault weapons -- a position he took in the 2008 campaign but failed to press during his first term.

"It does remain a commitment of his," presidential spokesman Jay Carney told reporters as the nation reeled from a mass shooting in Connecticut that mainly killed school children.

An emotional Obama did not address that issue directly in a televised statement from the White House on the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown that killed 26 people but said something had to be done...

The more I think about this the more I think the end is nigh for the manufactur or sale of any semi automatics. This may be the biggest story since 9/11. Man when they start bringing those little coffins out. 12 little girls 6 little boys. 6 grown woman and not one man. When this happens the woman’s vote will be 99% for gun control. It’s over. Any “old white guy” who gets on TV to defend gun ownership will have as much of a chance of getting elected as Custer’s bugler.

Don’t count on the courts to back us up on this either. Forget the echo chamber here. This changes everything.

There really isn’t any other place to go. Even if I could leave, I wouldn’t. We will have to make our stand here. We will have to fortify ourselves because they will use the sadness from this latest shooting to undermine our resolve.

I think your analysis is spot on.

Scary looking gun.

Then again, it depends who thinks it’s scary looking, doesn’t it? “Call me Senator” Barbara Boxer actually had her staff go through Gun Catalogs to gather a listing of Guns that were put on the original Clinton era Assault Weapon Ban list.

If it looked scary to her Liberal effeminate staff members, it was an Assault Weapon.

I think Obama is scary looking, can we ban him?

Assault Weapon: Any device, or picture of said device, which is designed to propel a bullet from itself.

Anything semi-automatic regardless of caliber.

And double-action revolvers will be classified as semi-automatics...
