A 1987 study ordered by the CIA found that Jonathan Pollard, convicted in the U.S. of spying for Israel, never sought to obtain information about U.S. activities. Rather, he was instructed by his Israeli handlers to obtain information about Israel's enemies.

The 1987 study by the Foreign Denial and Deception Analysis Committee was ordered by the CIA. It is now being made public, 25 years later, with heavy CIA redaction. It said Pollard's handlers were Rafi Eitan, advisor on counterterrorism to Prime Minister Shamir, as well as IAF Col. Aviem Sella and Joseph Yagur, Counselor for Scientific Affairs at the Israeli Consulate in New York.

“After returning from Paris, Pollard shifted his espionage into high gear," said the report. "Beginning in late January 1985, he made large, biweekly deliveries of classified material, on every other Friday, to the apartment of Irit Erb, a secretary at the Israeli Embassy in Washington. Pollard recalled that his first and possibly largest delivery occurred on 23 January and consisted of five suitcases full of classified material,” the document said.

“Pollard recalled that Yagur on at least two occasions indicated that selected items of his intelligence were known and appreciated by ‘the highest levels of the Israeli Government.’”

Considering America’s administration appears to be Israel’s enemy NOW, this guy may have had a premonition.

(This administration is an enemy to Israel—NOT the American people.)

There was always a lot of gossip in the military that Pollard had given the Israelis some sort of photographic intel that he did not realize contained evidence of that dumbass missiles and other toys to iran for hostages in Lebanon that McFarland had sold Reagan on. Wineburger was beside himself as it exposed the DOD in big way as delivering a lot of hardware to what amounted to our enemies. That is what supposedly got Pollard incarcerated instead of quietly sent to Israel.

I have read that President Reagan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Israel about 1983 giving assurances about Israeli intelligence needs. That would make Pollard's work LAW ENFORCING, and the intel holdup by SECDEF Casper Weinberger and Adm. Inman LAW BREAKING.

While we are on the topic, Casper Weinberger was a convert from Judaism with some ingrained spiritual problems with the Jewish people.

Whish iis what we’ve all known all the time, and what Pollard has maintained.

They should dig up Weinberger and hang him.

The October 1983 NSDD provided a much more durable basis for the development of U.S.-Israeli strategic cooperation than its precursor of 1981. When Premier Shamir visited Washington in November, the two sides agreed to the establishment of a new, formal Joint Political-Military Group (JPMG) that would convene every six months. President Reagan announced that the JPMG would, "give priority to our mutual interests posed by increased Soviet involvement in the Middle East. Among the specific areas to be considered are combined planning, joint exercises, and requirements for prepositioning of U.S. equipment in Israel."3'

The JPMG held its first meeting in January 1984, and over the next four years its achievements in shepherding increased strategic cooperation appeared impressive. Naval vessels from the U.S. Sixth Fleet started making regular port calls to Haifa; the United States leased 25 Kfir C-l fighters from Israel to simulate Soviet MiG planes in combat training; fleets from the two countries held joint anti-submarine warfare (ASW) maneuvers and passing exercises in the Eastern Mediterranean; Sixth Fleet aviators conducted bombing practice against targets in Israel's Negev Desert; several squadrons of USAF F-16s were deployed in Israel for joint exercises with the Israeli Air Force. In May 1986, Israel became the third country, after Britain and West Germany, to sign on to the SDI research and development program; the FY 1987 DoD budget bill reportedly authorized about $70 million for prepositioning American war material in Israel; and in July 1986, Israel agreed to the installation of Voice of America transmitters which would beam American programming into the southern parts of the Soviet Union."

Pollard was and is a traitor and a spy. He held no allegiance to the United States, he violated at many turns his oaths to his countrymen and his fellow service men, he jeopardized the security of our nation and its military in order to further his own goals. He has repeatedly lied about the extent and the nature of his espionage activities, only to be caught in lie after lie after lie.

While he tried to justify some of his espionage activities as stemming from a racial obligation (and he’s won the allegiance of many fawning sycophants as a result), the fact of the matter is he funneled whatever information he could to whomever he thought would be interested in paying for it. Some of the material he disseminated made it to the Chinese, and the Pakistanis. Despite this little fluff piece, the fact of the matter is he was a vile, lying, traitorous piece of filth that was willing to sell American secrets and American lives to whomever he could.

Frankly, I hope that piece of filth dies a lonely, painful traitor’s death in a dark prison cell.

This is all a crock to try to get public sympathy and support to release this traitor.
Don’t keep him locked up, hang his ass.

This point has been raised before. He violated his clearance nonetheless.

Does anyone know the ugly, extreme repercussions of what Pollard's spying against the US attained? I am a strong supporter of Israel but I am ashamed of some of what Israel has done to the country it owes its very existence to.

Information about the excruciatingly hard won network of spies in the Soviet Union was relayed to Israel in which Israel, for its own grotesquely selfish reasons traded this extraordinarily sensitive information to the Soviets, for what I don't know. Within hours, these CIA-trained agents were apprehended, murdered on the spot. Twenty years of arduous painstaking, meticulous work securing local Russians for US intelligence gathering lost.

So, please spare me any Pollard crocodile tears. And Israel, for the extreme betrayal committed against the country it owes its very existence to, be damned.

Irrelevant. He released classified information.

Has it occurred to you that perhaps this is being released now prior to a move by the Obama administration to release Pollard?

Perhaps in trade for concessions on building new apartments in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

My comments were not at an admonishment of whatever deal is eventually arranged regarding Pollard and his impending freedom by the US Govt and Israel.

My comments were made in a manner that stands above and beyond what Pollard did to supply Israel with information, the means in which it could deflect a direct threat from its enemies from classified information stolen from its unflinching ally. Once Pollard accomplished the perfidious betrayal in transmitting the classified information to Israel, the spying based on Pollard's concern for Israel's safety and concern should have stopped right there. At this point, Pollard's motivation could be seen as an ideologue out to help Israel and although criminal could be viewed as justifiable.

If Pollard was simply an ideologue, after getting what he required to protect Israel's security he should have stopped right there, but in pursuing the additional information of America's spy network inside of the Soviet Union his self-proclaimed legitimacy as ideologue was nothing of the kind. America's spy network inside of Russia held no threat to Israel and to procure this information for Israel came at a terrible price for America and was done not as an ideologue but as an opportunist of the worst kind. While the US lost incalculably, Israel in whatever Faustian Bargain they procured for themselves at America's expense will never have equaled the American losses by a hundred fold.

Israel shamed itself with the Pollard affair regarding procuring classified information to defend itself. But with selling Russia what Pollard revealed about the US spy network in the USSR exemplified the greedy, perfidious, back-stabbing, ugly opportunistic JEW stereotype that should have gotten Pollard the firing squad.

So please stop your crock of Crocodile Tears for poor, misunderstood, mistreated Pollard.
