I’m shocked ... shocked!

And didn’t we ALL know Boehner would cave? Didn’t we?

Throw that bum out and elect a Speaker with a set of stones, for the love of God!

Taxes on the rich were going to go up regardless. Either Boehner caves and the rich get nailed or we hit the fiscal cliff and everyone's taxes go up. He's in a lose/lose situation. Doing what he can to save those Bush-era tax cuts for the middle class was probably the most politically viable option.

It is my hope that conceding on this issue might give him the leverage he needs to stand firm against the Assault Weapons Ban that you can bet is right around the corner.

“Never let a crisis go to waste”

He waited until the networks and news media were covering the shootings almost 24/7.. and CAVED in the middle of that.

Nothing to see here...

Exactly. There’s really no negotiating with Barry anyway. Taking what he was willing to offer in preserving the Bush cuts up to $250K was all that could happen there anyway.

But the House controls spending, that’s the bigger problem anyway, and Boehner and crew have dicked around without really addressing it for two years already anyway!

That’s were the action should be.

Long past time the Republican Party withers on the vine. Why does this country have to have 2 liberal parties?

Note to Boehner, “find your spine, guts, and gonads!” Note to the House, “find a Speaker with spine, guts, and gonads NOW.”

Why doesn't Boehner call Hussein out on this? This tax increase will bring in so many billions , yet the deficit dwarfs any gain from increasing taxes. Or, ask 0Mugabe the same question he was asked in '08.

"It's been shown by IRS records that if you raise the capital gains/dividend tax you bring in LESS money in actual dollars into the treasury, why do we need to do this, and how will YOU make up this new shortfall?"

In '08 0boober's answer was "it was a matter of "fairness." , so OK it's a matter of fairness that we increase taxes and actually cut money from the treasury, how than mr. president, do we make up the difference???

Boehner and the GOP need to stop playing the progressive game and start arguing with mathematical facts. Put it in terms that the average young single cosmo reading gal (who seems to be the new demographic) can understand. In other words stop arguing emotionally and start using logic. The community organizer will fold like he did in the first debate when Romney actually gave him some tough questions.

I think you missed the boat. Boehner just called Obama’s bluff and you allowed yourself to have been spun by Politico (it has already been reject).

Maybe Bonehead can up his offer from 1 trillion in tax increases to
2 trillion in tax increases and Obama will accept. After all if Bonehead
is willing to go to 1 trillion, why not 2 or 3 trillion.

Yet more evidence that the radio caller was telling the absolute truth when he said, “I was in a meeting after Obama got elected and I was told by the Democratic officials in that meeting that we were gonna get billions of dollars that was gonna come down the pike, our way, and what we were to do with it was, we were supposed to build a…. We are gonna build an army of Democratic patronage jobs…. gonna completely freeze up the Republicans forever and ever…”
“It’s not a stimulus package; it’s not pork; it’s a job patronage system.
“…be bigger than the United States Army—that’s what we were told; there’s gonna be more employees working for the Democrats in this patronage system than the United States Army.”

Boehner caving again .. say it isn’t so !
It’s all about the SPENDING ! GOOFEY !!

The Narcisist in Chief is having a control tantrum , a hissey-fit , and Boehner has no spine , nor moral resolve .
It time for a change .
We are being represented by a leader with no spine , argueing with an orator who cannot lead.
A jellyfish has more spine than Boehner .
Go figure !

“(the GOP will get nothing and we will get higher taxes now or later)”

That would be, now AND later. Wait till those under $250,000 see what they voted for.

This isn’t a cave, come on. Raising the tax rate on people making more than $1 million a year means nothing, and that’s why Obama will reject it. The number of people who make a “salary” that high could probably fit inside a convention center ballroom somewhere. Entertainers and athletes basically. Everyone else who makes that kind of money can easily shift more of their income to dividends and capital gains, etc., so they’re not going to be paying any more in taxes.

I see this as a shrewd move by Boehner to expose the fact that Obama is not really looking to target the “millionaires and billionaires”. He’ll be protecting them, because they contribute to his and other Democrats’ campaigns. Obama wants to target the small business owners, and highly successful professionals who do make between $250K and $1 mil. They are the people who would actually get caught with a higher tax rate, not those making over $1 mil.
