The God Complex

I think I have the Progressive/Socialist/Communist movement figured out, and the answer is God. Surprised? Read on.

Humans have an instinctive desire to believe in something bigger than themselves—something all-knowing, all-seeing, all-powerful, that can make everything right when nothing seems to go right.

Ask any anthropologist or archaeologist, and he or she will tell you that pretty much every culture in the history or humankind has had a set of beliefs regarding a god or gods. We westerners are most familiar, of course, with the ancient Greek and Roman gods, but every civilization from the ancient Assyrians and Babylonians to modern-day tribesmen hidden deep in the Amazon jungle have complex and deeply-held religious beliefs.

Heck, even comic book super heroes are god characters. Think about it: Superman, Batman, Spiderman and their comic book comrades all have super powers that they use to fix the wrongs in the world that we mere mortals cannot fix. There’s no difference between that and any other religious belief. It is understood (by most) that these comic book super heroes are fictional, but in a minute we’ll see how some think people that ALL religious deities are fictional.

Now, there could be several explanations for this instinctive desire to believe in an all-powerful being. It could be that humans just can’t comprehend all of the evil that exists in this chaotic world, and the only way we can survive emotionally when we experience terrible things is to believe that somewhere “out there” is a being who is in control of things and who will eventually make things right.

On the other hand (and I will be up front here and tell you that this is what I believe), it could be that this instinct was planted in our souls by God Himself as a

On the contrary, I addressed everything in post 45. Christ tells us he seeks as a shepherd the (all/each) sheep that has gone astray. He tells us that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. He reconciles us to God through his death and resurrection and our belief in him. Through him, God has made us perfect in His sight.

There is a difference between consequences on earth when breaking the law and your spiritual journey. Redemption is open to all at any point on their journey. The only sin of death is one of disbelief.

The brain is a physical organ of our body. It can malfunction just like any other part of the body. I think that young man needed medical intervention and he was failed and as a result, those children were failed.

Psychiatry is not under the sole proprietorship of Communists. If that were so, residents of communist countries would be much happier. Psychiatry can be purposed to the good of individuals who need it.

It is misused, no doubt, but it is also valuable to many. It’s misuse doesn’t diminish it’s value.

You do know that the gospel is the “good news”? We are called to spread the good news. We are not called to assign spiritual judgements, that is God’s territory. Our job is to love...to love our neighbor as ourselves. I think that means even our pissy, unwashed, crazy neighbor. I think that is much harder and can only be accomplished with His help.

I think Adam Lanza suffered and we all paid for it.

Some of the lost sheep will be redeemed in the Second Resurrection (described in some detail in revelation 20:5-11).
Their Resurrection is described in a vision in Prophesy of the Valley of Bones.
Their "test" will be more severe in the Second Resurrection, than our test today.
But they will not die until they have lived to the end of their test, to the age given by God to the people through Isaiah of a 100 years.

You really need to understand the three different and separate Resurrections of Revelation 20.

I don't know WHERE to begin.
You are SO wrong.
Remember: The Law IS the Ten Commandments.

Once we have repented and accepted Christ's shed blood, He will say to us just as He did the woman, that is "Go and don't you ever break those Ten Commandments [in spirit] again!"

I suggest you reread the bible in the light of Grace. God’s plan is to redeem his people to life everlasting in his holy presence. He revealed his plan through Christ Jesus. He made it very simple. Faith as small as a mustard seed is all it takes to find your way to Christ as Savior.

As Jesus made clear, God’s timeline is his is own and He has not revealed it to any man, including Jesus.

You are obviously faithful and have studied much. My studies have lead me to believe that we are called to proclaim Him and love much. Everything else is frosting.

I can’t help but feel sad for the little boy in Adam Lanza that did not receive the help he needed. And for his mother who didn’t know how to help him. If he were alive he should go to jail. But he’s not, he’s dead and it is not for me or you to decide his spiritual fate.

Feel sad if you like.
He may be resurrected in the Second Resurrection to complete his 100 years of test.
But love is not always soft.
Sometimes it is a hard love, a rebuke and chasten.
Adam Lanza madehis decisions, and it's between him and God.
Pray for him, if you want, but moreover, pray for those he hurt.

Our Lord is just, and rewards the wicked according to their works.

1John 5
“12 So whoever has God’s Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life. 13 I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. 14 And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. 15 And if we know he is listening when we make our requests, we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for. 16 If you see a Christian brother or sister sinning in a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you should pray for those who commit it. 17 Every wrong is sin, but not all sin leads to death.”

It’s important to take these snippets in context. The book of John is guiding Christians to be able to identify sin and the Law identifies it. In the very first chapter he tells us, “He is faithful to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.”

He goes on to say,1 John 3: “23 And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. 24 Those who obey God’s commandments live in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Holy Spirit lives in us.”

The only sin that leads to spiritual death is disbelief-it separates you from God.

WHAT do think the word "Revelation" means ?
And WHO was it that REVEALED " ... things which must shortly come to pass ... " ?

Jesus told us plenty !

Thank you for permission to pray for the lost.

You know, there’s also that little bit in Matthew 7:”1Judge not, that ye ben ot judged .2For with what judgment ye judge , ye shall be judged : and with what measure ye mete , it shall be measured to you again .”

God is love. It is enough.

Just a further explanation of God’s commandments as issued by Jesus:
“37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38 This is the first and great commandment.39 And the second is like unto it , Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Matthew 24:”36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father.

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”

Why would Jesus say this and then the Book of Revelations spills the beans?

Wow, the whole verse reads, Matthew 12:”31Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.”

A verse that confirms what I have been saying. What is blasphemy but to revile the Holy Ghost?

Thanks.

How can you take a chapter on assurances for enduring suffering as Christians that He is faithful to us on the day of judgement and turn it into something frightful?

With Christ Jesus, we are made clean. White as snow. Acceptable to God. It is impossible for us to do it on our own. What a “Blessed Assurance”. Jesus is not for the perfect but for the imperfect.

You must have read something in Revelation that I didn't see.
Can you give me the chapter and verse where Jesus said what year, month, day, and time He's returning?
