Murders of school-age children—those between the ages of 5 and 18—declined by 42 percent between the 1992-93 school year and the 2008-2009 school year, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, and only about 1 percent of the school age children murdered during the 2008-2009 school year were murdered at school.

In February 2012, the Bureau of Justice Statistics published a report—Indicators of School Crime and Safety: 2011—that included statistics on homicides committed at schools for the school years from 1992-93 through 2009-2010. … The report showed a decline over an 18-year period in both the number of school-age children murdered and the number murdered “at school.” The Justice Department defines “at school” to “include the school building, on school property, on a school bus, and going to and from school.” …

Just facts. Inconvenient facts.

Liberals are masters at ignoring inconvenient facts. It’s the only way they can get anything done.

Children are 99% LESS likely to be killed at school. So they are safer at school. Might want to put that on your ping list.

I’m guessing that the other 99% were murdered in their own neighborhoods in drive-by shootings or by the sperm donors that begat them.

I wonder what the per-centage would be if liberals considered the millions of children who were murdered before ever seeing the light of day?

The news coverage of this shooting will absolutely guarantee we have many more; it is around the clock, non-stop misery that any prospective shooter will relish. Apparently this is designed to: 1) make Obama look presidential (and American), 2) undermine gun rights, and 3) mock preppers.

Did I miss anything?

When it comes to the safety of kids, stats don’t really care alot of weight, especially right after a school massacre.

Here is a legislative proposal:
Let the teachers at each school decide if they want to arm. Couple this with school vouchers so parents can decide if they want their kids going to an armed school or gun free school. If teachers do not want to arm then parents should be allowed to volunteer.

Great platform for 2014!

FReepers have been pretty good at ignoring these facts for the last few days as well:

Civilization is over! Every single teacher in America must be armed! It’s too dangerous to send your kids to public school!

Apparently this is designed to:

1) make Obama look presidential (and American), Epic fail!

2) undermine gun rights, Will fail if we fight back.

and 3) mock preppers. Might work but preppers won't care.

Did I miss anything?

4) Demonize gun owners. Might work short term among the lib faithful but gun ownership will grow.

A “great story” is one which promotes journalism and journalists - and others who promote journalism and journalists. Journalists award positive labels such as “liberal,” “progressive,” “centrist,” or “moderate” to the latter, reserving only “objective” exclusively for themselves.
Journalists call themselves “the press” and view the First Amendment as “their very own loophole” around the equality of rights which the Constitution was designed to guard.

A lot of white libs are in no rush to curtail another person’s right to defend the white libs with a gun; they might never pick one up themselves, but they are sure glad someone else knows how to use them.

Point taken. For all the talk that these journalists are irrelevant, though, they showed their inflated sense of worth was indeed accurate when they dragged President Foodstamps across the finish line last month...

I’m glad that an increasing number of people here even speak the same language (literally) as the US media; the Hindu chasing one of Obama’s sons out of his Quik-E Mart isn’t a liberal person...

That’s true. It has been ten years or so but I recall some polling that showed that about 40% of self-identified Dem voters owned guns. Self-identified Pubbie gun owners was about 65% IIRC. Owning a gun and supporting the ownership of so-called ‘assault rifles’ is another thing though and even a lot of Republican-voting gun owners do not. The demonization of particular arms has been somewhat successful. But many lefties do support gun ownership in general and own guns themselves.

That’s a great way to put it.
