I had intended to offer a vicarious apology on behalf of those Americans who have actually served in uniform, have trained with HM Armed Forces and are thankful for the honor of having done so, but your post is more to the point.

Thank you my friends.

I KNOW most Americans are like you, not the other member.

A number of European Universities pre-date Oxford, Cambridge, and St. Andrews. The U.S. did receive a great deal from Britain, but in many cases Britain was a conduit rather than a font.

Correction: Spain has more aircraft carriers than Britain: 2 to Zero.

Spain has a dedicated Harrier carrier P.deAsturias and a larger carrier/LPH Cavour. They both carry AV-8B Harriers with APG-65 radars and AMRAAMs

England gave up the last of it’s Harriers a year ago. They have two LPHs, the dedicated HMS Ocean and the converted HMS Illustrious (the last of the three Invincible class light carriers)

The UK has naval advantage in nuclear submarines, and a slight one in overall training and motivation, but that’s it. The RN would have a very hard time going toe to toe with the Spanish.

Board and seize the next Spanish vessel that violates British sovereign space.

Tow it to port and keep it until Spain behaves.

Rinse and repeat as necessary.

The Spaniards are the first to do the same to anyone who violates their space.

“A number of European Universities pre-date Oxford, Cambridge, and St. Andrews.”

You are correct, of course. I should have have used the qualifer “some” to describe these early British universities.
