Pointing out that the policies that make them feel good about themselves as good people are enforced at gun point harshes their buzz. They don't listen anyway. The beauty of liberalism is that you already know all the answers, so you never need to question your beliefs. Gun control is not a rational conclusion for these people, but rather an article of faith. "For the true believer no proof is necessary." (and no disproof possible)

Actually, it is a rational conclusion from the wrong starting point. That wrong starting point is the nature of man. They believe that the people who seek power do so out of benevolence, and are inherently superior morally and intellectually, and are therefore going to do everything to the benefit of society.
