That’s because he will need Pelosis rats to pass it.
What does that tell you?
NSA’s data warehouse strikes again.
Same here. Boehner has the only leverage that counts - raising the debt ceiling. It is the only thing - I meant the ONLY thing - that matters to Obama. Yet Boehner surrenders it first.
I still cringe when I think back sixteen months ago. Boehner caved then as well by raising the debt ceiling by $2.5 trillion. And he got zero in return. ZERO! The best thing Boehner can do at this point for the sake of the country is to hold the debt ceiling where it is and let Obama fend for every single dollar he wants to spend. Only then will America wake up to what is going on.
Jeez. Now where did I put that brain bleach???
Where are the 100 Senators and 435 House members....are they all at home spending our money????
Apparently, we don't have any principles, either.
Boner can choose to do the right thing, or choose to do the wrong thing. He chose the wrong thing. HIS power and privilege is at stake.
(Screw the American citizen. It's a matter of priority!)
What he's agreeing to is tax increases without a cut in spending.
Good thing the American tax payer has a party they can depend on. (/s)
Why stop there. Bonehead should throw in amnesty, as well
And make it the Grandest Bargain of all. However, conservatives
will leave in droves.
You thread killer you.
"Could we possibly get a LEADER, who doesnt have a trail of blackmail pictures, littering his past? There is no other explanation for caving."
Part of it, I think, is that we are being taken advantage once again by the same old, duplicitous GOP consultants. They cook their internal polls to show that any Conservative position is "greatly unpopular" with the public, and unsuspecting House leaders rely on this data, so they quickly cave.
They paint Conservatives as extremists who only harm the party, creating a bubble world in which there is even more reliance on the "helpful" consultants. The consultants get paid, win or lose; the politician keeps quiet because he doesn't want to admit he made a mistake in overpaying for bad advice, and the cycle continues.
If the House votes with Bonehead, America is finished. TOTALLY!!!
To stop the peasants from revolting.
From my FR profile:
There is no Constitutional justification, or encouragement for us having a two party system.
So why do we have this ugly situation?
Two political gangs, the Republicans, and the Socialists (who have taken over the democrat party) divide the political spoils between them, and make sure no outside candidate, or third political party can ever get elected-with a few minor exceptions.
As a right wing democrat who doesn't have a party anymore, I mostly vote for the stupid, politically inept, anti labor Republicans, because I feel they do less damage to the country and family, and are more suppportive of our Constitution, than are the Socialists, who want to destroy this country.
So you can't really expect either gang to represent you, unless you are a member in good standing, or can buy the influence, either with money, or by delivering votes. -tom
DC = Doesn’t Change
The spiral of a nation continues,
its leadership, absent on duty.
The illusion of choice?
Even the debt ceiling debate is one step removed from the core issue, which is spending.
The GOP House has complete control over that—and yet they originate and pass massive spending bill after massive spending bill.
I’m not sure that the debt ceiling is great leverage for getting the Bush tax cuts continued, because Obama is fully aware of how feckless Boehner and his crew are, and how they would never stand their ground on it anyway. And if Boehner actually grew a pair on the issue, the GOP’s messaging is so bad that they would indeed get blamed for it through the press and in public opinion. IMO it is better, if you’re going to fight the good fight, to do so at the core issue, which is spending.
Finally, there’d be no need for the debt ceiling to keep getting raised if Boehner and crew didn’t keep originating and passing spending bills that make it necessary.
If by at home you mean lying on a beach drunk on frozen drinks, then yes.
Funny thing is... Nancy and her butt buddies have been telling us for the last six years that the Bush cuts only benefit the rich. So why do they want to extend them?
That's probably because Obama refused the deal. Obama won't take 95% of what he wants. He won't settle for less than 105%. And Boner will give it to him, just like last time.
unemployment checks as stimulus?
