President Barack Obama could use executive privilege for gun control

Calls for increased gun control are being renewed in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. school shooting last Friday, and President Barack Obama indicated he would pursue measures to stop such events from happening in the future. Obama said at a memorial service Sunday that he would "use whatever power this office holds" to prevent such massacres.

In yet another high-profile public shooting, 20 children and six adults were killed in Sandy Hook Elementary School when a gunman forced his way in and began firing. Obama spoke strongly about the failure of the country to protect its children, and suggested his administration would explore new efforts to better regulate guns.

"No single law, no set of laws can eliminate evil from the world or prevent every senseless act of violence in our society," he said. "But that can't be an excuse for inaction

How is it that we have a constitution and he is still POTUS, despite not being able to provide an original copy of a LFBC . . .

Because none of the 50 state legislatures, each of which had two opportunities, and are Constitutionally, solely responsible to appoint electors, asked the democrat party to produce it.

The Justice Department’s review included examining the possibility of sending legislation to Congress as well as steps Obama himself could take.

“You always look at both, because if you can do it administratively it’s certainly a less involved process,” said Christopher Schroeder, who ran the review for the Justice Department.

Well, isn’t that f**king sweet?
It’s like he’s talking about baking muffins or something.

He’s not going to do Jack squat. He is just going to egg on the Dem legislators to introduce legislation to ban assault rifles. It hasn’t got a ghost of a chance to pass. This country is not in the mood for gun control and they all know it.

“I disagree with you.. there is a lot of documentation on violent video games... but you can disagree. My point is, why is it always guns? After these horrible crimes are committed the police search the home of the perpetrators and always find these things: violent video games, psyc medication and running water.”

No, there are not a lot of scientific studies that link video games to violence.

You are supplanting assumption for fact. Ask yourself, what is the study that you are referring to? You can’t name it. In fact, the last thorough one that was done in, I believe, 2003 showed the opposite effect.

Besides, when they searched Dahmer’s home they found video games? Nope.

Don’t fall into the trap of ignoring the fact that psychopaths have been with us since time began and no law will change human DNA no matter how fun it is to pretend.

And it’s not always guns. The human hands are still the number one homicide weapon in the U.S.

(Disagreement is discussion and is always appreciated.)

Well ... there's your local police department, your State Police, there's Federal Agents in the Marshals Service, the BATF, the FBI, DHS, IRS, EPA, DEA, etc. ...

And when they shoot you down in the street like a rabid dog, the leftists in Big Media will praise them in the highest for successfully eliminating a dangerous domestic terrorist.

Phhhttt.

An estimated five to fifteen thousand jihadists kept the bulk of the entire US military bogged down in Iraq for nearly ten years, and we still didn't leave there with a decisive victory.

There are an estimated 90 million American gun owners. If only 3% (or 2.7 million) of them chose to openly resist, what do you think the odds of the federals' success would be?

In the First American Revolution, only 3% of the American colonists raised arms and fired upon the British. It might even be higher in the Second American Revolution.

Scoff at your own peril. Keep in mind, the rules of engagement in Iraq were tighter in Iraq than the cops here are constrained by. "officer safety" hides a lot of sins. And if you think americans won't slaughter americans, Lincoln killed 260,000 southerners and more than a couple northerners. He got a monument. You think that 3% is going to get treated any better he treated the south? You think that big homeland security apparatus was built to stop middle easterners from taking over DC and Manhattan? If King George had that kind of power at his disposal we'd all be standing for Rule, Britannia at baseball games.

Stop trying to sell your paranoid hysterics.

You're delusional if you think the American military is going to execute unrestrained warfare on our own people. Not even Obama has the cojones to issue such orders - and I can guarantee you he'd likely end up in irons if he even tried it.

History is important because human nature is constant. Of course american troops have never turned their weapons on american civilians. Except for the whiskey rebelion. And Sherman’s march to the sea. And when guardsmen opened fire on protesters at Kent State (oh wait, those were just smelly hippies) And when the army and special forces participated in the Waco siege. Nope...thinking it could ever happen is just paranoid nuttery.

Besides, it won’t be the troops doing it this time. Why do you think they are mostly deployed to the other side of the planet? No, it will be the homeland security funded and equipped local cops taking orders from the feds.

Most americans are, well...stupid. For f*** sake, they think american idol and “reality teevee” is real. They will cheer as you and yours are disarmed, especially if you resist.

But hey, keep clinging to that belief that the laws of human nature have been repealed. This time is different.

Just because the American people haven't revolted against their government in 237 years doesn't mean they won't. That's at least as likely as the Alex Jones theory you're proposing.

In such an unlikely event, if even 97% of the gun owning public stands down and does not resist brute force suppression, that still leaves an insurgent patriot army of 2.7 million who will.

The bulk of the American armed forces were tied down in Iraq for nearly ten years by an insurgent force that never numbered over fifteen thousand individuals. And you're telling me that street cops deputized by the federal government are going to subjugate the American people through force?

Not even possible. They can't handle MS-13. What are they gonna do with millions of angry Americans who are armed to the teeth, willing to fight back, and whose very freedom and way of life is at stake?

Of course there will, just like in every attempted overthrow of a sovereign people.

There are cowards and potential traitors among us even now. It's just a fact of life that when the SHTF, some will drop their weapons and run, while others sell out their compatriots to the oppressor.

But most won't. Not everyone will have the courage to man the barricades, but enough will, that a victory by the people is assured. Like the colonists of old, we'd have some cleaning up to do afterwards.

There not going to need to. There not going to go in and take folks guns. First They’ll ban the manufacturer and sale of all semis and ammunition then if you get caught transporting one you’ll get 10 years federal.
