what good is "hiding" under a table, for cripe's sake - and I bet she can't even move the filing cabinet.

Just freeze and hope the shooter doesn’t notice.

I am a 4th grade teacher, and I did just that. I now have a plan in my head as to how I will barricade my door. A storage cabinet will be moved right beside my door. It can easily be scooted in front of the door. I also have tables that will be placed against the storage cabinet. By the time I finish, it would be difficult for anyone to enter the room easily and quickly. This incident is weighing heavy on educators across this nation. Students are also becoming more violent and lack a sense of right and wrong. Our problems are only going to deepen if we do not figure out what to do and quickly. Gun control is not the answer. As a teacher who has a permit, I would readily agree to intense training to be able to carry in a school. We need to get back to the basics of teaching right and wrong, good and evil. Most of the students in my class do not even go to church or have any basic knowledge about God. It is a truly sad eye opener. I am doing everything I can possibly do while teaching history to introduce them to the basics of religion.
