Amidst the political fallout surrounding the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, one chain of sporting goods stores is suspending sale of certain types of rifles. Dick’s Sporting Goods, which has branches all over the United States, told the media that it has removed all weapons from the shelves of stores near Newtown, and that it would be removing certain specified weapons from shelves across the country. “We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this terrible tragedy,” the chain told the press.
The chain has removed all weapons categorized as “modern sporting rifles.”
This decision by Dick’s Sporting Goods follows on the heels of an attempt by California legislators to divest all pension funds from companies associated with gun manufacturers.

Dick’s Sporting Goods has never been friendly to gun owners anyways. I stopped shopping there yeas ago when my local store told some legal open carriers they weren’t welcome in the store.
Cross them off my list...
I was going to spend around $250 on a pellet rifle at Dick’s. Not happening now.
Dicks probably has sold about 3 guns a year anyway. Cheap PR
They are an over-priced clothing store with canoes hanging from the ceiling for fake outdoor ambience.
I used to buy hockey sticks there, but their selection got worse and worse, and their prices are ridiculous. I shop on-line now.
They have to deal with state gun laws in 57 different states. /s
I read somewhere where the Dick from Dicks asked other companies to follow suit. I’m thinking, you just made a decision that you aren’t in the gun sales business now live with the consequences.
Too bad they are not close enough to me to add to my boycott list.
