Canadians expressed outrage Thursday after the release of Guy Turcotte, a cardiologist who in 2009 confessed to killing his children as they slept in their beds.

What many wanted to know was how a father who stabbed his children dozens of times could be free after 46 months of confinement. Those voices echo the grief of Turcotte's ex-wife, Dr. Isabelle Gaston, the mother of 5-year-old Olivier and 3-year-old Anne-Sophie.

As Gaston pored over her children's autopsy reports, she wished she had no idea what they meant. But as a physician and a coroner, she knows it's true: Her children suffered a long, gruesome death.

From the article:

In fact, Turcotte told the psychiatric review board that released him that he is looking forward to leading a normal life in the future and hopes to practice medicine and have children again.

Oh how sweet. So nice he can move on with his life and not let the stabbing to death of his children by his own hand get in his way mentally.

"I knew it was not a short death. You know, my little boy received 20 stabs of a knife, he had seven marks of defense," she told CNN in an interview at her home before Turcotte's full release. "He had no wound that was the one that gave him death," she added, trying to hold back tears.

"My little girl, she had 19 wounds, maybe she was luckier? Because she had one that was more mortal than the other. But she felt 19 shots, that's for sure," Gaston said.

Beyond words. I redacted my first attempt at a post. The only part I'll repeat is that this thing who committed this attrocity is not a human in my opinion, but rather a rabid animal. And it should be treated as such.

just when you think America is so screwed up, you read something like this about Canada and think maybe we're not so bad afterall....

honestly, the jury should be incarcerated or hospitalized for stupidity....

I hate to say it, but I used to wonder how vigilantes could do what they do....Now it begins to make sense. If a ‘parent’ can kill his own kids and only serve 46 months, there’s not much point in relying on the law anymore.

He gets a do-over, a second chance to get it right - a new wife and some more kids to replace the ones he killed!

The same Criminal Rights extremists who make it easy for criminals to get lite sentences are the same ones who would be trying to free Adam Lanza, had he not killed himself. Liberals love criminals

I totally agree. If I were to learn that some vigilantes tortured this b@stard to death, I would stand back and applaud and feel no remorse, none at all.

But he was sick then, and he blacked out too-—remember that.

It is amazing that psychiatrists are so professional that they could cure this man in 46 months.Miracles are still happening.

Now this man can go back and open his Cardiac office and start saving the lives of his patients.

Does this post need a sarcasm tag?

Yeah its really screwy. They gives the same light sentences to pedophiles. I don’t think it’s juries but judges who give those sentences.

I live in Pennsylvania where we don’t use the death penalty but at least life means life. Jerry Sandusky and Mumia Jamal will never see the outside again.

Although it's a different country I believe this reflects exactly the sort of attitude that leads to insane people being free to terrorize society. Look at what can happen with someone who murdered his own children! 'Oh, he's was just nuts. He's OK now. He has rights and stuff so let him wander off to do whatever he pleases.' Now imagine how nearly impossible it's become to have someone committed if they haven't yet harmed anyone. Then when they finally do something horrible, like say shoot a bunch of people, who does everyone blame? No the people who made certain nobody could be safe from. Nope. Everything and everyone else is to blame.
The people who demand that everyone be helpless never take any heat when their ideas cause mayhem.
