This isn't the ATF watching straw purchasers trafficking weapons and then letting them go, this is way worse. The ATF in this instance bought weapons with your tax dollars and then put them in play. The initial purchase was probably legal, but what happened after that probably wasn't.
Nobody anywhere in law enforcement procures contraband and then puts it in play without a plan to recover it. We don't have a gunshow loophole, we have an ATF loophole.
