Three Reasons Gun Control Isn't Going to Happen

In the immediate aftermath of Friday's terrible tragedy in Connecticut, there have been the predictable calls to enact new gun control legislation. The usual proponents of additional restrictions on guns have filled the airwaves with calls for immediate legislative action. Sen. Diane Feinstein has promised to introduce a new "assault weapons" ban on the first day of the new Congress next year. But, there are three very big reasons to believe that, for all the rhetoric, nothing will come of this new push for gun control.

1. Biden Gun Violence Task Force

This afternoon, President Obama convened a press conference announcing the formation of a blue-ribbon task force, chaired by VP Biden, to examine and recommend changes in our country's gun laws. Most pundits are greeting this news as a sign that Obama is serious

Reason, positive thinking and good points don’t mean squat in a nation that just reelected Obama. The only good news I’ve heard on gun control is that Obama has delegated the work to his court jester, Biden. If anyone could screw it up, he can.

There is only ONE reason why we won't see federal gun control any time soon, and it's because of a huge Republican majority in the House, which won't change any time soon, either.

No, I don't trust Boehner, but that's irrelevant to the legislative realities of this particular issue.

Freepers need to understand Obamacare is not socialism, it is a program for Health Insurance companies. They help write most of it behind the scenes. It is the greatest corporate welfare ever envisioned, gov by law forces people to buy their products. Since insurance corporations were behind the scene taking advantage of the socialist political crusade, it is not a complete surprise the insurance company lobbyists were twisting some GOP lawmakers to screw up the resistance to Obamacare. Corporate America plays both sides to get what they want. If corporate America is willing to sell rocket guidance to the PLA they are willing to f##k conservatives for a profit.

The territory of that entity commonly known as “the United States of America” is populated by a growing majority that has no concept of the original intent or ideals of that great experiment in human governance, and increasingly, have chosen to vote it away.

I feel that in essence they did in this last election. Not specifically but by voting for an utterly lawless president they have given their imprimatur to the destruction of the rule of law ie the Constitution. That could yet be turned around at the ballot box provided that their permission doesn't result in more concrete measures that break it down beyond redemption. But it appears that 0bamugabe is going to charge headlong in that direction and I'm not sure the people will reject it if he does. The USA is on the precipice of complete Constitutional meltdown to name another cliff we are standing on the edge of.
