1/ I an NRA Training Counselor, and was in the midst of teaching an NRA civilian instructor’s course to nine Law Enforcement officers when the tragedy occurred. To the man, they were all in favor of civilian ownership of firearms.

2/ Although they all have issued AR-15s, at least two of my close LE friends have purchased one for their personal use within the last week.

3/ I was at the Wally Mart gun counter this morning alongside a citizen; he was purchasing their last two AR-15s in stock. (From the female sales clerk: “We had a bunch in the back just a week or two ago - I don’t know what happened to them.”) I asked him “Are you an NRA member?” Answer: “No, I’m just doing this as an investment.” My comment to him (and to y’all out in FReeperLand): If you like freedom, put your money where your mouth is. Milwaukee Mayor Barrett took issue with Clarke's assertion that placing armed tactical officers or security officers in schools and other public places would stop violent acts. He noted the 2009 rampage at Fort Hood in Texas that killed 13 and left more than two dozen others wounded.

Mayor Barrett is mistaken. The Fort Hood shooting actually took place in a "gun-free zone":
