A group called the Conservative Action Project has released a letter today calling on House Republicans to vote against Speaker John Boehner’s “Plan B” if it comes up for a floor vote. The group released a statement along with a stellar list of signatories, headlined appropriately “NO MORE TAXES!!!!!!!!”
NO MORE TAXES!!!!!!!!!As leaders of broad based American citizen groups we call upon Republican House Members to vote no on Speaker Boehner’s Tax Hike known as “Plan B.” This tax increase bill is just like the tax increase proposal Nancy Pelosi offered last year on May 23rd.
Speaker Boehner, President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and too many Members of the Republican conference have forgotten that the problem in Washington is too much spending and not too little taxation.
When the American people voted to return the Republican majority in the House last month we sent you to cut spending. Instead, you are now voting on the Pelosi plan to increase taxes next year.
We urge Members of the House to vote no on the procedural rule to stop the Pelosi/Boehner tax plan from coming to the House floor for a vote.

Passing such a bill is mostly an exercise in futility anyway.
This bill, as offered, would never get out of committee in the Senate, and if it did, it would never be passed by the Democrat majority.
And should it, against all odds, get reported out and PASSED by the Senate, it would certainly die by veto on the desk of the Current Occupant of the White Hut.
Mostly, any action on “Plan B” is more a gesture than any serious legislation.
The reinstitution of the previous tax rate tables, and the sequestration of spending, as well as the resumption of the previous withholding on FICA taxes, all kick in after January the first.
It all goes smash.

I saw a clip of last night’s Jay Leno show, this AM on FOX.
Jay Leno said “I heard congress is talking about Plan B for the fiscal cliff....... you KNOW what that means? We really get Plan F and U.”

I wouldn't hold it against them personally (as long as they vote the right way, that is). You have to remember we are dealing with a very defensive, vindictive Speaker here.
I agree. Take the economic hit now rather than running in 2014 as an incumbent in a recession that the other side (and the dominant medua) will spend millions telling people was caused by you inability to give even a little bit on taxes. The chices are really a minor economy hit or another lost decade or two with the dims running things
They must have some great plan to force the democrats in the senate, and President Obama, to sign some other bill then.
Because otherwise, we are getting a 4.6 TRILLION DOLLAR tax increase.
A tax increase that all of these people seem to have supported, when it was written into law in 2001, and re-passed into law in 2011.
I wonder why they want taxes to go up so much.
Or I wonder what their brilliant plan is to magically change the current law.
In 2001, we had a republican house, a republican senate, and a republican in the white house, and we couldn’t pass the Bush Tax cut rates for the year 2011. (the law we passed lowered rates for 10 years, and then raised them back up in 2011).
In 2010, we had a republican house, a democrat senate, and a democrat president looking at a re-election in 2 years. And we couldn’t pass a bill that imposed the bush tax cut rates for 2013 (they lowered tax rates for 2 years, and then increased them to the Clinton rates in January of 2013).
So, if we couldn’t do this in 2001, and we couldn’t do this in 2011, what is their great plan for doing this in 2013? Magic?
I would point out that Boehner’s plan, which isn’t a great one, PERMANENTLY lowers the taxes on the first million dollars that everybody makes each year.
Which means that, if you SCORE this tax cut over it’s lifetime, it gives even people making more than a million dollars a year a BETTER tax cut over the next 10 years, than the bill did in 2010 that gave us a 2-year tax cut for all tax levels.
I once had a liberal complain that, if the republicans had their way, nobody would pay any taxes.
When I protested, he pointed to a half-dozen statements all of which were identical to this one quoted above.
I'm guessing they meant "no higher taxes".
Yes, but if it did...especially after the Senate passed it...Obama would be the only one in favor of raising taxes on everyone when there was a bill out there to avoid taxes on everyone but millionaires (99.8% of us).
Good way for us to start his new term IMO.
