BRUSSELS (AP) -- Syria's civil war is increasingly turning into a sectarian conflict pitting majority Sunni rebels against government forces supported by the country's religious and ethnic minorities, a new U.N. human rights report said Thursday.

The Arab war against all the others in Syria is now almost 1400 years long, and still counting.
Saudi Arabia is funding the Sunni opposition to Assad and are getting support from the U.S. and the EU. Aid to the New Syrian Army (Sunnis) are funneled through NATO member Turkey (Sunni Muslim). The Christians, Druze, Shi’ites are backing Assad because a victory by the Sunnis would lead to a genocidal bloodbath. The major power involvement jacks up the stakes in a Syrian civil war.
