Chris Stevens, the US ambassador killed in the Benghazi embassy attack was the most recent U.S. foreign service officer to be killed in the line of duty. Early on in the Benghazi narrative we were told that this was the first death in the line of duty since 1978. Which of course was the Jimmy Carter era, recently I’ve heard/read that it was 1988 ... the Reagan years. Can someone bring me up to date?

Interview all who watched on video.
Find out why they were included in the video viewing.
Find out what action they took.
what did they say to whom?
The person(s) they said something to is/are then asked what they did with the information - what action they took.
Let’s get a report on all that took place.
Do the same thing with all that were at the consulate.
Do they resign so they don’t have to testify regarding who and what occurred?
Cant hey avoid a murder investigation?

In 1979 Adolph Dubs, the US ambassador to Afghanistan, was kidnapped and killed. He was the last ambassador to be killed in the line of duty before Stevens this year in Libya. I don't know about 1988, but the bombing of the US embassy in Kenya killed 12 Americans. I wasn't able to find out how many of those were in the foreign service.
