Newt has always been fortunate in having large numbers of people on the right who are willing to forget every asinine and counterproductive thing he's ever done before in order to cheer him on when he acts/sounds like a conservative. The man was instrumental during a brief moment of conservatism which he also helped to bring to a screeching halt, and he has since been granted a license by people like Sean Hannity to indulge his ego and generally provide a false alternative for people disgusted by whatever current crop of Republican mediocrities are being paraded out at any given time. If more of the GOP would show spine, fewer people would suddenly embrace Newt (yet again), and he'd be left to pick up whatever crumbs that the MSM throw his way... and little more.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again (and again, and again): Newt Gingrich is all about Newt Gingrich.

Heck, when I was posting my Newt truth file (before I stopped after a ban threat), certain well-known posters were actually saying that Newt’s record before 2010 did not matter, that he had seen changed his mind about previous RINO positions, and that he was the best Conservative since Ronald Reagan. heck, just this past week, some folks here were pimping him as a replacement for Boner. Talk about foolish!
