Here's something else to be thinking on; how to beat the coming charges or racism. Dems have learned it works, so look for that to become standard fare. Forever.
We need to ignore the racism charges and continue the pressure. There was not a peep from the media on the charges of tokenism and Uncle Tom from the left when Cong. Tim Scott was elevated to the senate this week in SC. There was hardly a peep about the ESPN jerk that called conservative Redskins QB Robert Griffin III a cornball brother, not to mention the amount of money the left spent to defeat Allen West, a black man, or Mia Love, a black woman in their congressional races. Racism is a phony issue and the GOP should throw these examples in their faces and continue to charge forward.
The low-information, American Idol voters will not show up to defend the left in midterm elections. The only way to survive is to hold the conservative line and not give in. This was the key to the massive House win in 2010. The Plan B collapsed because at the state levels, key house members were threatened with Primary challenges, and those guys were forced to say no to Boehner. We need the same at the senate level, starting with McConnell and all the way down the line. Also, the middle of the road Democrats who are up in 2014 need strong challengers.
or....not attending State of Union address at all. Imagine half the house empty
Or completely empty!
Imagine Boehner locking the place down like Pelosi did back when the Republicans were demanding "drill baby drill" and were tweeting comments from the darkened House.
Send ONLY Joe Wilson to the SOTU speech.
“At one point, according to notes taken by a participant, Mr. Boehner told the president, I put $800 billion [in tax revenue] on the table. What do I get for that?
You get nothing, the president said. I get that for free. “
the only way to interpret behavior like this is that obama wanted to go over the cliff all along, and is being a deliberate a-hole just because he thinks he can.
this is not a professional way to negotiate, anyone with any experience negotiating would recognize that behavior like obama’s is stupid to the extreme, you don’t deliberately antagonize your opponent like that (especially if you will be working together in the future)
obama is like many weaklings, when they think they are in a powerful position, they overplay their hand.
Republicans simply not showing up would probably backfire, since the Democrats would just fill the empty seats with staffers before the cameras started rolling, and then the visual would be 100% of Congress on both sides giving repeated standing ovations and cheering when Obama gives his plans to “save the American middle class”. The only thing that might work visually (for the benefit of the watching public) would be to be there at the beginning and then walk out all together — but how do you decide in advance when to time that?
