Don’t mess with Marlboro Township. The leafy, well-heeled New Jersey suburb will station a permanent armed cop in each of its nine schools starting Jan. 2. * * * The mayor and other town officials had approved the initiative before the chief of the National Rifle Association ignited a firestorm on Friday by calling for armed guards for schools.

Even better... get the kids out of public schools and either home-school or send to private schools.

That would be far more effective and over time I believe we'll see far more of this.

Holy smokes. You would want to allow Erik Loomis, Ward Churchill, and the dingbats at Seattle Central Community College to carry firearms?

I think I've finally gotten to the root of her issue - she read a "Lefie" article that said our Gov. was mandating that every teacher HAD to have a gun. I told her just by using common sense, I know he did not say that, but she argued and insisted he did. So, I have googled what he DID actually say - no mandate, but considering letting teachers who voluntarily want to carry and are trained, to do so. She's reconsidering her position as I type because I have proved to her that the DMC (Democrat Media Complex) has totally and badly misinformed her.

My sons both attended elementary/middle/high school in a NYC suburb. The elementary schools ALWAYS employed retired, armed officers, in plain clothes. The middle and high school had an active, town assigned, plain clothes officer in addition to multiple, armed, retired officers. I sincerely thought this was common practice in other towns. Guess not.

This whole idea will come to a screeching halt about the time the left figures out that a ringer can fire off a few rounds in a school.

You could have stopped right there. Your school issues are on a whole different planet than mine. I can't find any evidence of a single shooting in any of the two dozen or more school buildings in my county EVER.

Bill the union.

This really doesn’t make it fair for the psycho killers.

Agree. Anyone who is against the right of a person to be a psycho killer is a hater. The are just rotten lousy "crazyists." That;s almost as bad as being a racist.

I agree completely. The best solution would be to hire retired police or military.

Good point - without the pyscho killers how can they justify their gun grabs?

More Hypocrisy

As the “debate” rages, more and more examples of the leftist hypocrisy come to light:

WLS radio 890am: Jim Johnson, station reporter, reported that Mayor Emanuel was “ outraged” that the NRA suggested putting trained armed security/police officers in all schools in response to the recent shooting at the Newtown elementary school.

Oh, outraged huh? Gee, if he’s soooo outraged, then why doesn’t he pull his kids out of the LAB School at the U of C campus. Guess the 2 U of C armed police officers that work the Lab School everyday just make for such a scary and unsafe environment. Oh wait, if he did that then he just might have to enroll his kids in the local CPS school by his house!?!?! Wait, that can’t happen. CPS is just good enough for the peasants kids but not for his little angels. Double standard hypocrite.

Wayne LaPiere took this proposal away from the Democrats and beat them to it. And now they are pissed.

So the Democrats are saying this is a bad plan, when in fact the Democrats would love to create another government TSA type agency specifically for government schools.

Think union membership and government control.

Armed security is costly. A far better way is to allow all school staff to pack heat...

Consider this twist:

Armed security is intrusive. I'd like to see "Armed Security" teachers. This individual within a school could teach a class on 2nd amendment; for upper grades, there could be an elective for learning to handle a weapon.

Oh, and for those teachers inclined to do so (ie, liberty minded... believers in the 2nd from any political persuasion), get trained, licensed, outfitted for concealed carry).

The result would be no "Armed Security" whose union job would be to hang around eating donuts all day for that one chance every year where one nutjob wantonly kills somewhere in the US; some guy who would just be hanging out at the water cooler or staff cafeteria all day.

Freaking hypocrites lambast the NRA for wanting to put police officers in the schools with the common claim that the schools shouldn't be turned into "armed camps".

And yet MANY inner-city schools already resemble prisons with locked doors, metal detectors and guards.

So I'm confused. Are the Democrat / liberals saying that their own version of armed camps are fine for the inner-city but not OK for the suburbs? Or, God forbid, Sidwell Friends?

Freaking hypocrites. Again.

I glad she’s reconsidering, other than making prisons out of our schools the only answer to this problem is “a good guy with a gun”.

I consider that to be a rather foolish statement. It presumes the staff capable of maintaining and more importantly using a weapon.

That is an insult to the over 7.6 million concealed weapon permit holders in this country.

No it isn’t. It was made in the knowledge that educators, most likely most educators aren’t capable of dealing with a pistol, don’t want to learn and it is not their job.

It has nothing to do with those who know their weapons stuff and are qualified and legal. The chip om your shoulder is falling off it seems.

There are numerous well trained highly motivated Army and Marine Corps veterans who would be ideally suited for providing security at schools. The sandbox has provided a large number of men who are used to fighting in urban environments where minimizing civilian casualties are a part of the ROE. We should use them and many of them could use a good job.
