I was in Egypt in October. Cairo, Giza, Luxor and my son went to the Red Sea.

The tour guides, drivers, restaurant staff, and the hotel staff are all hurting.

One of our tour guides had not had a tour group from February. We talked of kids and the cost of sending them to western schools. Kids spending all their time on Face book. Desperate people trying to survive.

When the revolution occurred and the riots in Tahir square the National museum's was untouched. Some people threatened to sack the building but citizens came and surrounded the museum to protect it. The museum is a sad place. It was built around 1907. It is outdated not arconditioned. It is full of more artifacts than can be imagined. They are building a new facility near the pyramids but it is years from completion.

The people identified us as either English, Canadian or Australian. We only saw one other American couple during our stay.

The only other American I traveled with was an American soldier from Texas heading to a base in the Sinai.

The average Egyptian does not seem to mind Americans but they do have a problem with the Chinese. They under cut the price of the tourist trinckets.

I really fear for the people of Egypt.

They are in my prayers

Luxor was pretty dead when we were there. The hotel was pretty empty and the breakfast buffet was pretty empty. the boats would come in and the buses from the Red Sea resorts but those groups did not spend much in the area. Mainly tours, balloon rides and carriage rides.

### Egypt has a very large population, and is unable to produce enough food to support itself. They lack much in the way of manufacturing and natural resources, as well. So basically they rely on tourism and foreign aid to support themselves. Without tourism, people will starve.###

That economy sounds like Haiti without tourism.

We went to and enjoyed a couple weeks in Egypt a few years ago. Only people who want their throat slither would go there now. So sad.

Funny, you’d think they’d want to see the Sphinx and Pyramids before the islamists dynamite them.

The lefties will applaud the destruction as another example of freedom of religion in the new Islamic State of Egypt.

They own it.
Slump is not the word, disaster is the more accurate description.

They should have been secularized, but it’s too late now.
