When a company finds that it is more expensive to support the paper than it is to find other ways to reach customers, they’ll respond by pulling their ads. So the best response is to boycott advertisers, and let them know that you are doing it.
Playing hardball would require more than bitching to their advertisors. And no offense intended but I seriously doubt you have the stomach for it.
