LOS ANGELES (AP) -- For many, Jack Klugman will always be the messy one.
His portrayal of sloppy sportswriter Oscar Madison on TV's "The Odd Couple" left viewers laughing but it also gave Klugman the leverage to create a more serious character, the gruff medical examiner in "Quincy M.E." His everyman ethos and comic timing endeared him to audiences and led to a prolific, six-decade acting career that spanned stage, screen and television.
Klugman died Monday at age 90 in suburban Northridge with his wife at his side. His sons called on his fans to embrace their father's tenacious and positive spirit.
"He had a great life and he enjoyed every moment of it, and he would encourage others to do the same," son Adam Klugman said.
The cause of Klugman's death was not immediately known. Adam Klugman said his father had been slowing down in recent years, but wasn't battling cancer, which robbed him of his voice in the 1980s. Klugman taught himself to speak again, and kept working

One of the few natural born actors. May he RIP.
Really crazy, before clicking and seeing yours, this is what I planned to type:
‘Once there was a man named Oscar. Oscar, Oscar, Oscar. Oscar, Oscar, Oooooooo...
I could probably recite most Oddcouple episodes lines for line. I’m deeply indebted to both Tony Randall and Jack Klugman for many belly laughs. RIP Jack.
I know I’m gettin’ old when my 30 something sil asks me who is Jack Klugman and who is Oscar.
He was great in the Days Of Wine And Roses as well.
RIP Jack.

Sorry for the multiple post!!!
I also saw him in reruns of some old classic TV shows, The Untouchables, Naked City, Twilight Zone, to call him an accomplished actor is an understatement.
RIP Jack Klugman, you will be missed!
I am in my 20s and know who Jack Klugman is, but I much prefer classic TV when comedy writting involved actual talent. Although I best remember Klugman in the pool episode of Twilight Zone with Johnathan Winters in a rare non comedy role.
Never would have thought back during The Odd Couple days, Jack would wind up outliving Tony Randall.
I know. Tony Randall was a militant anti-smoker and Klugman was a heavy smoker who lost his vocal cord to cancer. Hard to believe he outlived Randall by several years.
Days of Wine and Roses?
Might you be thinking of Jack Lemmon who also co-starred
in the movie version of The Odd Couple? That Jack
has been dead a number of years........or am I missing a
joke somewhere?
One of the greatest shows on television.good night pip.
Thank God for multiple posts
Oscar and Felix are reunited. RIP old man!
