I've gone back through my data base and eliminted non-USA job losses where possible, some US losses may have been subtracted from the totals where losses were reported as "worldwide, without breaking out domestic jobs.
Last week I said "My guess, and it is purely a guess, is that the real number is roughly twice what I've been able to track. BLS reports as if the month ends on the 13th, my hard count number for this interval would be about 76,000, if my guesstimate on the real number being twice as high is close, the BLS should report about 155,000 on January 7th.
Removing possible foreign job losses adjusts that figure downward to approximately 68,000. Based on that and my guestimate of the non-WARN numbers, BLS should report about 136,000. It will be interesting to see the final "official" number
In the interests of saving FR's bandwidth I'm only posting this weeks raw data. I will send an Excell spread sheet of all my data to anyone who Freepmails me their addy and requests it.
These are only numbers. Its not like its real people.
Corrections:
Liberty Medical laid off at two locations, Salem, VA and Port St Lucie, FL. The total for both locations was 450, raising the weekly total to 3,435
Pura Vida Restaurant & Bar is in Atlanta, GA.
Just bumps in the road.

Hey ‘cmon, unemployment benefits are the best economic stimulus according to Pelosi. We haven’t had enough layoffs yet to really stimulate the economy! ;-/
lost my job November 26th...
Devon Energy?
Anyway, sorry to hear that, I’ve been out for a while.
Wait until the ‘seasonal’ layoffs begin - where companies lay off the special help they got on board for Christmas.
I have a sneaky suspicion that the ‘seasonal’ layoffs will greatly exceed the number of ‘seasonal’ workers that were hired in the first place.
Yeah. The day the new taxes and regulations kick in - January 1st - more than a few companies will discover just how expensive it is to keep people on the payroll.
That’s when the “seasonal” layoffs will really start in ernest.
*sigh*
“lost my job November 26th...”
I’m sorry tarawa - I’ll pray for you and your family.
I’ve been “repurposed” at my company - although painful; I am still working.
Had a turkey sandwich on Thanksgiving.
For some variety and because it was Christmas, I had a ham sandwich yesterday.
Layoffs are beginning to be standard news, but his is noteworthy in the fact that his extensive department was moved lock, stock and droids to Poland!

The difference between the local state and federal governments in the US and the Russian Mafia in Poland?
When you pay the Russian Mafia “protection “ money, they leave you alone!
Actually, the State of Texas. It was politically motivated, as some folks felt rather empowered after the election to get rid of anyone that disagreed with them.
Still, I'm actively seeking employment in Texas.
How do your prospects look?
I can introduce you to a Texas based headhunter if you'd like.
Had a couple of interviews early on, but not much came of those. I really didn’t expect to hear back on much during December, because of the holidays, but we will see how January does. Right now I am trying to call in some contacts of mine to see if they know anyone in the Travis County Emergency Mgmt Dept, as there is a position there that I think I am well qualified for, but want to find out exactly what they are looking for on their application. Other than that, I’m still averaging 6-10 applications a week.
