A local restaurant that a buddy of mine owns just told me they are trying to stay afloat. I hope and pray he makes it, but it isn’t looking good if he is talking like that just coming out of the December rush.
I hope he can survive. The raw statistics I report here miss a hundred heartbreaking stories. Many of the places are shops and restaurants that have operated for decades or even over a century. Any failed business is bad, but there’s something especially poignant about an interview with a middle-aged or older restauranteur who talks about his grandfather starting the business when he was a young man new to America.
