Sure they are. Nothing wrong with calling this device a clip. You've got to write to your audience and for most Americans a "magazine" is something you read.
Use "30 round magazines" and people won't know what you're talking about. They know what a "clip" is. And if it is technically incorrect, who really cares?
Was that a clip showing a magazine? But then, you’ll never know when one of those empty things might go off on its own. Never be too careful. Was that magazine filled?

I think you have an overblown idea of executive power; RR, just like BO, was not the law. I just think it’s silly to cry for the enforcement of laws we believe to be ridiculous. Better that everyone of us march to NBC’s Washington bureau with 30-rd mags in our hands daring them to arrest us.
This is a pretty clear example of media arrogance.
There is no question that Gregory could have waived around a picture of a high-capacity gun magazine or shown a video of one and he would have had no problems whatsoever. But he wanted a prop and decided that laws (even laws he supports) only apply to the little people and not to the intelligentsia class in the MSM.
It is ridiculous, and that is the point. A magazine, high capacity or not, a rifle, pistol or revolver are simply inanimate objects that do not harm on their own. So there is Gregory, not harming anyone with his magazine, other than advocating to eliminate our 2nd Amendment Rights. He needs to learn a lesson and it makes a point about how ridiculous a law is.

If they are so innocent, why would the police even know they were going to film him with the magazine before it aired? Reads as though they felt guilty, inquired, told not to commit a crime, then proceeded anyways.

I agree, these leftist in the MSM support these stupid laws. Let him see firsthand the stupidity of putting law abiding citizens in jail as a means to stopping criminal activity. Makes no sense.

I don't think the problem was showing it on TV. I believe that the problem is that the possession of a 30 round magazine by anyone other than police is a series crime in DC, which is where the show was taped.

They are NOT the same. And one of the purposes of journalism is (was?) to educate. If Americans don’t know the difference and can’t learn the difference, then those Americans need to stay out of the discussion and let the grownups discuss grownup things.
