The GOP's Budget Problem (Inexplicably, Republicans simply will not make the budget case in public)

Just how much trouble is the federal budget in? The coverage by the MSM of the fiscal cliff negotiations is not enlightening on this point. For reasons that most of us in the American Thinker community and observers such as Thomas Sowell find inexplicable, the Republicans simply will not make the budget case in public. This is true whether it is Boehner and McConnell in Congress or Romney during the campaign.

Instead we get snippets from our side when they get in front of a microphone of "$1.2 trillion" or "everything is on the table" or "keeping the Bush tax cuts." For some reason, our side does not understand that it has to build a political predicate in public in order to have a purchase on the president who is moved by nothing but power. He is committed to growing government without limit, as if he is unaware of the lessons of the 20th century about communism and socialism.

He is committed to a philosophy now over 100 years old that has failed everywhere it has been tried and has the additional effect of ruining the vigor of the public, which is what supports the economic and political system itself.

So where are we in the budget? We do not have final numbers for fiscal 2012 which ended September 20, 2012. But we have estimates. The estimates for 2012 for the federal budget are:

They only use that line when they are duping conservatives to support them. They don’t actually want to educate the public, it would work against their new world order goals.(thanks HW)

The “Progressives” have been building up to this scenario for more than 100 years.(Since before Teddy Roosevelt) If anyone thinks that the Pubbies can concoct a defense against it overnight they are sadly and badly mistaken.

The Good Doctor knows dsmn well the reason. And he should say it openly.

The mess is just as much the fault of the GOP who did NOT use their constitutional authority to rein in Obama’s spending fiascoes. I repeat...

IT IS THE FAULT OF THE GOP FOR NOT REINING IN OBAMA’S SPENDING FIASCOES.

If the GOP does anything in public now, it will just make it obvious to the people who until now have been willfully and intentionally ignorant of their failures.

I am mystified at all the people worried about the GOP getting the blame for the cliff. Sure Obama drove the car over it. And the GOP gave him the keys and filled the tank with race gas.

Anyone want to try denying that? Didn’t think so.

So until we start backing people of principle and giving them power expect a real sudden and uncomfortable stop when the car augers in.

And until we stand behind such people instead of being a bunch of fairweather backstabbers, I do not see many people willing to be a target to ‘both’ sides.

It’s only inexplicable if you refuse to believe the RINOs are complicit with the left.

I’ve just heard that the House sent the Senate a bill in the summer, and they have neither acted on that one, nor passed one of their own. The GOP PR people should be fired, and then hanged with no drop.

Table 2

Federal Budget as a Household Budget ($)

Household income $ 24,700

Household spending $ 38,000

Amount added to the credit card $ 13,300

Amount owed on the credit card $163,500

Spending cuts offered by Obama $ 1,200

Unlike my household, THAT household can print money! And printing money will (eventually) result in a $200 Happy Meal. But like the proverbial frogs in the pot of boiling water, a scant minority sees that. Just they vote for free stuff as long as they get their free stuff. Until they don't. But who ever said politicians on either side were far-sighted? I'm convinced now that the only way out is to let this economy crash and burn. Hopefully, before the next election.

Let's simplify it even more for the obama voters who may be lurking...

Household income $ 2.47

Household spending $ 3.80

Amount added to the credit card $ 1.33

Amount owed on the credit card $16.35

Spending cuts offered by Obama $ .12
