Russias Deputy Prime Minister has announced some optimistic news regarding the countrys demographics, which shows that initiatives by the Kremlin may be beginning to bear fruit.
The annual birth rate in Russia is expected to eventually hit 2 million, which is good news for the nations demographic and social outlook, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets said in remarks at a conference on demographic issues.
After years of dismal demographic rates, the news comes as a relief for officials concerned about the social risks connected with a dwindling population, as well as the overall aging of the population and the need to meet the demands of the labor market through human capital.
"We anticipate that 1.8 million babies will be born this year," Golodets said. "It is desirable that the birth rate should reach 2 million which would allow many of the risks for our state to be removed in this generation."
Golodets said that the countrys birth rate levels should be maintained by further social development. She noted that Russias birth rate has been increasing by 100,000 annually, and while the growth is welcome news, it presents a challenge to the countrys social infrastructure.
"This is quite a sizable index, and we must be prepared to meet the demand for the services of kindergartens and medical clinics," she explained.
Previously, experts polled some 3,000 people while conducting a survey in 2007, as the Russian government was introducing initiatives to jumpstart population growth.

Russia is still ruled by lying commies.
Just for the record, where do they expect to get immigration from: the "stans" to the south/central, or the Chinese to the south and east?
And is this supposed to be good news? Chinese in Khabarovksk and all over the RFE, Khazaks and assorted Muslims over the Caucasus and the West Siberian Plain? Well, nations come and nations go. Without babies, they's goin' --- that's fo' sho'
She the type that reproduces? Or are those just entertainment features?
Devushka!
:^)
Yes. And, yes they’re entertainment features put their by God so that you can say ‘yes’ to the first question.
The day will come when such things will be normal in the USA. A drive for more kids. Rewards for babies and a ban on abortion.
With the collapse of the USSR, it was immigration from the former soviet republics kicking out Russians. Today, I’m not sure.
The problem we face today is a government elite who see the solution to the birth dearth is letting those from Third World nations come here and have 3-4 kids. Then tax payers who’d like to have more children don’t because they are paying for welfare for the poor children of immigrants.
If we ended immigration and the welfare for them (as well as generational welfare here), there would be more money in the hands of working citizens, who’d have more kids.
Women who are interested in husband, marriage, fidelity and family are usually a little more protective of their personal dignity. Like this Russian woman here

Still pretty attractive to their husbands without a doubt --
and without having to pose like Devochka Does Dallas.
I’ll settle for Devochka does Enterprise.
Stringing some random thoughts together. In Russia, I doubt that they ever let their schools get as pathologically stupid as we have. Propaganda yes, and some surrender to political orthodoxy, but not to the point of producing two or three generations of barely functional morons. Now, there may come a day when single women, or single women with children are going to be looked at with scorn by society in general. But until we get these schools corrected, it won’t matter how many people we produce.
Excellent points, Mrs. Don-o.
