Newtown Parents Organize To Fight Gun Violence (asked to "feed the fire" of gun control)

NEWTOWN ——

Newtown United was born in the agony and confusion that followed the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The group of residents, including parents of children who survived, held its first meeting two days after the shooting as news teams from around the globe scrambled for reaction to the killings.

Group leaders are working to ensure that Newtown United grows and gains power long after the news trucks leave. Before the week was over, leaders had formed an executive team and started the process of becoming a nonprofit organization. Some members had gone to Washington to speak against gun violence

The group, organizers said, will use the traditional media, social media, outreach to churches, schools, government agencies and all other avenues to make "Newtown" a rallying cry against gun violence.

"We are just a few concerned citizens with day jobs trying to ensure that what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary marks the high-water mark for gun violence in this nation," Newtown United spokesman Rob Cox wrote in an email. "Ultimately we hope to provide a platform for the voices of the families most affected by this horrific event."

You failed as parents to protect your children and relied on an uncaring, incompetent AGENDA-DRIVEN government to stop a slaughter. That’s a cross you will bear forever.

There....fixed it.

And the really funny part is, these people in Newtown actually believe that the Democrats give a rats ass about them and their dead children. And that they're not going to be dumped two seconds after they've outlived their usefullness.

If the people of Newtown want to make their town a gun free town, have at it. However, their jurisdiction and stupidity ends at the town line. For the rest of us, they have no say in the matter.

Just like Cindy Sheehan.

Rob Cox, Newtown resident and found of this group. is far more than a concerned neighbor. Here's his video from last April noting the surging gun sales in reaction to Obama's likely reelection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWk4bd1OcH8. He is a skilled propagandist and quite influential. His disdain for the NRA even last April is quite obvious.

Human beings are unique in that they are capable of unemotional rational thought and reasoning. Hysteria should remain the venue of children and the seriously neurotic.
Extreme grieving is a form of insanity, a relatively temporary form of insanity. Yes, I have been there.

Why would we allow the insane to make socially strategic decisions and to create laws decreasing the safety, the security, and negatively affecting the lives of hundreds of millions?
Solely for the sake of doing something.

I know that not all the exploiters of tragedies are grieving, but their insanity is a more subtle sort, and the results of again trying what has over and over failed to work in the past, is just as irrational.

I have an idea for these morons. Why don’t they declare the entire state of Connecticut gun-free?

Idiots.
I bet the fine hand of that lunatic Winnie Brady is behind part of this.

To the actual residents of Newtown:

I am very sorry for your loss. The monster who killed your children was under the effect of powerful psychoactive drugs and was the personification of evil. He stole the guns he used and murdered his mother. His crime was aided by the stupid law passed by the very liberals who are using this tragedy to advance their own evil agenda declaring schools “gun free zones” where your children had no one to defend them.

I am a law-abiding American citizen who owns guns. I will never register them with a government that is becoming more tyrannical every day. Had I been at your children’s school when this devil showed up and I was armed - illegally in a “gun free zone” - I would have taken him out before he could have killed your children. Think about that as you are used by the same people who declared that there could be no good guys at your school to shoot back at this bad guy. Their intentions are evil and to them your childrens’ deaths are “a crisis that should not go to waste”.

Mexico is a gun free Nation. That is why 24,000 were slaughtered last year.

A rate equivalent to 72,000 for a population the size of the US

And Mexico does NOT have a Second Amendment.
And Mexico has draconian (if not effectively enforced) gun ownership laws.

But since Mexico is inhhabited exclusively by space aliens, any comparison/contrast is silly.

How convenient for this man that all those children were killed by a gunman who was crazy or at least that is the profile they are giving him you could ask the mother but she was killed by her son or that is what they are telling
us. And here this man who is organizing for the victims was rallying against guns in April it is as if the whole thing was made to order. Funny how the very day this happened the talk was about how to get rid of guns that was the last thing I was thinking about although I don't have
an agenda either. I do not believe anything I see or hear anymore from the media or politicians or activists.

58% against when I clicked No. Definitely needs Freeper involvement. The stats should be a resounding 99% No. But then again who reads polls and what difference would they make in Los Angeles? I thank Heaven above I’m in AZ having been in the L.A. gulag.

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and and Sen.-elect Chris Murphy attended the meeting Dec. 19 and advised the group to feed the fire while public sentiment is strong and raw.

Yep, just like after Katrina. There is nothing that the left won't try to exploit for political gain. Nothing.

Guess they didn’t hear about the knives in China. The common denomiator isn’t the guns or the knives but a mental disorder.

Rob Cox called Dan Holmes his "pal" in a tweet: Rob Cox ‏@rob1cox. My pal Dan Holmes on Nancy Lanza: "She said she would often go target shooting with her kids...

Rob's pal Dan seems to be one of the few people in Newtown who knew Lanza and her rifle. He is the go to guy any time some reporter talks about Nancy Lanza's rifle. Rob and Dan ran in the same race in Newtown in 2008. They are one year apart in age. That's all I can find, sorry it's not that much.

Thanks for the ping and heads up! I was not aware of this group, but then Newtown sometimes does a poor job of notifying it's residents of various activities.

Both Murphy and Blumenthal showed up... in Newtown? Telling! It's obviously not "grass roots" but rather some Liberal operatives using the tragedy here for alterior motives.

I will circulate this thread and it's useful links to fellow residents with "different" objectives than Cox.

Since Mexico's a gun free county. I assume those selling guns are organized crime groups - and that elite politicians receive lots of payoffs from them... Maybe that's why our liberal elites want citizens disarmed... there's money in them thar hills... ask the pols in Chicago.
