COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4)- The Commerce City Police officer who shot and killed a family dog last month has been charged with animal cruelty.

The shooting happened Nov. 24 when officers received a call of a dog running unattended in the neighborhood.

When officers tried to catch the dog, Chloe, they had trouble. They used a taser and tried a neck harness.

Police Officer Robert Price then fired five shots, killing Chloe. The incident was caught on video.

Expat1000 and I were discussing if there were two Joe 6-packs. I later remembered there is a JoeSixPack, right? Two different Joe’s that like beer? Hugs, Mom

Yeah, this was overreach. Film is not very good, but the dog is on the pole and the woman still has hold of it - if so concerned why not the man hold it? The dog was probably frantic from being tazed and just spooking, trying to run away I think. I don’t see the purpose of shooting the dog.

This is good news. It’s an inroad to prosecuting the gratuitous killing of peaceful, in-control, beloved family pets by “police officers,” AFTER the “officer” panics the animal and pretends the “officer” is in any kind of danger.

That has to stop. It’s a form of terrorist mayhem designed to make law-abiding Americans feel helpless and depressed.

However it has managed to be a tool for making law-abiding Americans hate the vicious, and dare I say, DUMBED-DOWN cowards on the force these days across the country.

The mailman and delivery driver argument holds a lot of water for me. If they don’t have to kill every dog they meet, then neither do the “police.”

Good thing the officer was an expert marksman, all that movement, people everywhere, someone may have been killed./sarc

This dog killer belongs in jail for killing the dog and reckless endangerment.

Indeed.

Thanks. I will also try to call in to the local radio talk shows.

Why aren't these stories EVER on national talk shows? You'd think Levin would be a natural.

FR has come a long way. Time was, the badge lickers would dominate and some other dopes would say, "It's a DOG, people!" or "You care more about an animal than a man who puts his life on the line for us!" Or, "What about the children being raped and murdered?"

Even the die hards realize that something horribly sick is going on in this country.

” Why aren’t these stories EVER on national talk shows? You’d think Levin would be a natural.”

Because many of the national talk shows aren’t willing to address the corruption and the scandal of this problem, apparently.

There are still conservative talk show hosts who firmly believe it is a conservative trait to NEVER question police decisions or actions; that only progressives ever find fault with police.
