If a person is clever they can make a gun in their own garage. I recall a little thing called a Zip Gun. OR most Black Powder weapons are not regulated—at close range an 1860s era six shooter can be devastating. Or what about a crossbow? One shot but at close range it can punch a bolt right though a person. Then there are homemade things—rubberbands —if strong enough, can put a steel brad right though a two by four. Even a squirt gun loaded with toxic things can be awful-—even loaded with lemon juice—aim for the eyes and a foe is blinded. Then there are swords, maces, tomahawks, axes, baseball bats and other things.
ALso a very big dog! A huge animal that will sell his life to defend you. A bad guy better kill it with the first shot—or it will use its last dying breath to rip out his throat! Dogs can’t be intimidated.
