Our logic is that we gave my husband’s mother living or freshly cut flowers while she was alive and could appreciate them. Plastic flowers simply brighten up the grave site; but she is in a better place and has no more need for flowers to brighten her life.

Sorry, I am just pointing out the reality. Plastic flowers are fake (did they grow? or did they come out of a chemical plant?) symbolism over substance, no matter how its rationalized.

How long would any florist stay in business of they delivered plastic flowers? Think about it, please.
