Obama was nose deep in it. He was about the second highest kickback/under the table/bribed/paid Senator from Freddie Mae. He was merely a junior Senator at the time so talk about red flags that everyone ignored.
Barney was a big enabler of the housing crisis because of his influence and Congressional Committee position. He also had a boyfriend who was pretty high up in the Fannie hierarchy, if I remember correctly. In that case, he was in "waste" deep.
