I’m still optimistic. Local discussions are suggesting this is preemptive strike on conceal carry, which is now inevitable here. If passed, the ban measures would become effective right around when the state has to pony up a plan for cc. So the thinking seems to be this: If they have to let us carry, they will only let us carry Barny Fife one-bullet pop guns. Or less. It will amount to a de facto denial of the right, which would mean it will probably eventually be defeated in court, if it passes the full assembly. But I doubt it will.
You don’t realize that we now have a one party system. The GOP morphed into Democrat lite over the past 4 years.
Time to take out the trash and install a new party.
There are over 300 million privately owned guns in our country.
There is no way those will be confiscated. There would be a revolution and a lot of dead federales.

President Reagan was able to nudge his programs through a reluctant opposition controlled congress using charm, wit, and persuasion. Obama wouldn’t recognize these methods even if they were written on large font bold face type on his teleprompter. His two victory laps on winning the tax increase while rubbing the noses of the Republicans in the dirt are proof of this. Somehow I don’t give his chances of achieving many more milestone successes that high. He has created too many enemies. He had few legislative successes even when he controlled both houses of congress. He could barely persuade Democrats to vote for his programs.
Exactly, there are simply not enough feds to do the job. They can try but it will fail quickly. Military will split and be neutered and local LEO’s will stay home and protect their families. If the blue helmets come that will be a dream come true. Target rich environment.
My sympathies for you guys south of the border, I sure hope you can avert this crisis. If you get into a bind, you might want to rent some warehouse space for your extra semi-autos up here in WI. I wonder if some of your fellow citizens in Chi-town store some of their extra stuff in more hospitable environs.
You might also want to think of some covert storage systems at home just in case. If you have any good ideas, let me know.
