A gunman has opened fire in a village in Switzerland, killing three people and wounding two others, Swiss police say.
The attack happened on Wednesday at around 21:00 (20:00 GMT) in the village of Daillon in Valais canton, 100km (60 miles) east of Geneva.
The gunman had reportedly been drinking heavily before the shooting.
Police dispatched to the scene arrested a suspect who was shot and wounded after he threatened them.
"Three victims died at the scene," said Valais police. "Two other people were wounded and hospitalised."
They had rushed to the village after calls reporting that several people were lying in the street after a spate of gunfire.

1. European media (BBC, RAI, Radio France, France24, etc.) stop crowing for a day or so about trigger-happy killer Americans.
2. European media blame their shootings on trigger happy killer Americans, replete with experts on violent American movies, videogames, and “The Copycat Effect.”
In the USA, white people commit gun murders at almost exactly the same rate as white people in Switzerland.

Swiss whites - 2.7 per 100,000
USA Blacks - 24 per 100,000
USA Hispanics - 12 per 100,000

Apparently, they were running around the mountain village in the dark, trying to get him. Police in the end wounded the gunman, and he is in custody - name not released yet.
It seems the police managed well, all things considered. I prefer they are caught alive, and made to answer.
The guy watched Dirty Harry the night before, so INTERPOL has a warrant out for the arrest of Clint Eastwood.

Both of these are very good. Especially the reality that violent crime comes from a subset of the population: the uneducated poor. And which political system has caused more people to fall into that classification.

They should register each drink.
They always are - dangerous mental cases are out on the streets. The tragedy in the NY subway, with that man pushed under a train, is again because someone who should have been in a secure asylum, was not.
I read an article that claims exactly that is what happened in Singapore. Singapore has a low crime rate that has been attributed to great policing and government policies.
Someone made a link between the legalization of abortion and the drop in crime rates. It seems like the undesirables were the one getting abortions (from the article not me) This led to the drop in crime committed by these undesirables.
