I loved language arts and hated the liberal education I was force-fed. Made a living from writing and speaking the English language. My SYW always has been a master of math skills and taught those aspects well to our children then and other folks' kids now. Our son the engineering guru appreciates her lessons more than our medical-professional daughter who makes time to write and illustrate stories for youngsters. She has a splendid way with words.

I think classical literature and John Wayne movies produced the Gunner. Also at least a hundred episodes of “Magnum, P.I.”: she’ll probably go into law enforcement as a civilian, if she ever gets out of the Coast Guard. She also does travel writing, had quite a following on FR when she was on a cutter in the Pacific.
