A conservative group aiming to oust John Boehner as speaker of the House said on Wednesday that they have commitments from enough Republicans in Congress to deliver the political surprise of the year and deny the Ohio Republican another two years with the speaker’s gavel.

“I have confirmed with a group of congressmen that Speaker Boehner will not be elected speaker tomorrow,” Ron Meyer of the group American Majority Action wrote in an email Wednesday evening. “He will either resign or be forced out tomorrow.”

In a phone interview with The Daily Caller, Meyer said “more than 20” Republicans have told his group they won’t vote for Boehner during elections Thursday. American Majority Action is a conservative organization based in Virginia that is active in the tea party movement. It is run by Ned Ryun, the son of former Republican Rep. Jim Ryun of Kansas.

Amazing that so few people know that the House can choose anyone for the speaker - not just congress people.

West for speaker??? How about Palin for President while we’re lost in dreamland?

He isn’t a Congressman anymore, guys. West lost. Loved him, contributed to his campaign but he’s GONE!

Sorry. I trust Democrats more than I do Republicans or Conservatives.
Democrats know how to keep their word.

*************

That doesn't keep him from being eligible for the position should they place his name in nomination. But it won't happen as they have never elected a speaker that wasn't an elected member of the current House.

My goodness. If you wish to engage in fantasy land, be my guest. No non-member of Congress has ever been elected Speaker. If you wish to pin your hopes and dreams on the mystical rainbow of this Congress electing defeated Allen West as Speaker, please do so with great gusto. Enjoy.

If there is a second ballot a sufficient number of Democrats could go for Boehner to keep the squish sell-out in charge

Amazing that so many people live in a dream world and think the House would actually elect a non sitting congresscritter. Get real

I agree. This is probably some Obama group out there trying to weaken the Reps more than they already have.

.......................................................................................

But it’s not a REALISTIC choice.

All I hope for is that Cantor the cadaver doesn’t get any higher in seniority. (My expectations are very low with the current pinheads in the GOP)

My goodness. If you wish to engage in fantasy land, be my guest. No non-member of Congress has ever been elected Speaker.

And no one who wants to completely destroy our country has ever been elected President either. Yet here we are.

Doesn’t matter, if the GOP-e just replaces him with another RINO.
The way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if the GOP-E elected Pelosi as Speaker.

That's true, but political reality is such a bummer these days! ;-)
