REPORT: Al Gore Made $100 Million In The Current TV Sale
Business Insider ^ | 01/03/2013 | Joe Weisenthal

Amazing detail in Brian Stelter's reporting on the sale of Current TV to Al-Jazeera:

"Al Jazeera did not disclose the purchase price, but people with direct knowledge of the deal pegged it at around $500 million, indicating a $100 million payout for Mr. Gore, who owned 20 percent of Current. Mr. Gore and his partners were eager to complete the deal by Dec. 31, lest it be subject to higher tax rates that took effect on Jan. 1, according to several people who insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. But the deal was not signed until Wednesday."

That deal was announced last night, and within minutes, Time Warner had taken Current off the air, perhaps as a ploy to negotiate much higher carriage fees from Current's new wealthy parent company.

"I suspect that Gore has been on the Saudi payroll for a long, long time. He's been busy for years, ensuring that the US never achieves energy independence from Middle Eastern oil."

Wonder if Soros provided seed money...

“Current TV’s shabby ratings are another hurdle for Al Jazeera. The network, which put itself up for sale last year, reportedly struggled to find a buyer given its low average viewership of 35,000. By comparison, Fox News drew an average of 2.1 million primetime total viewers in 2012.”

It’s a bribe from an Arab gubmint. The channel is worthless.

The channel is not worthless. Just like an airline that is going out of business can sell its’ slots at major airports as part of it’s liquidation.

Al Jazeera is not buying this channel to get the 35,000 viewers, it’s buying it to get an already signed distribution agreement with various cable companies that currently have 60,000,000 subscribers. AJ has been having trouble getting those companies to carry their channel. This is their way of greatly expanding their US coverage. Whatever viewers they get depends on whether they can provide content people want to watch.

ManBearPig Hypocrisy! Al Gore Sold Current TV Before January 1st to Save Taxes!

.. According to the Fiscal Cliff deal, earnings above $400,ooo will be taxed at a rate of 39.6 percent, up from the current 35 percent. That means Al Gore saved $4.9 million by selling out early – but I thought the wealthy don’t “need” or “want” those tax savings, right Obama?

– like the pigs in Animal Farm, liberals ascribe rules for everyone else but not for themselves.

Thanks - Cable companies can charge more for less with our system.

Many of us are tired of subsidizing liberal propaganda - and worse = with our dollars. I would happily pay for FOXNews and a few other channels. And pay for the privilege of NOT be forced to pay for CNN and Current TV.

It won’t work. Time Warner already dropped them. The same cable companies that didn’t accept them before, won’t accept them now.

“I’ll bet you’re happier for it too... I’m down to FOXNews - sometimes...”

I am all of that. Noticeably lately the hysterical coverage by the MSM of the Connecticut shootings has not made it into my house and I want to keep it that way.

My cold, hard analysis of the Connecticut is as follows:

Arm the teachers after CCW training. They are to use their own guns, the ones they shoot at the range, the ones that fit their hands.

This provides an immediate response to an attempted shooting which can be measured in seconds, not 7 minutes (Sandy Hook) or hours (Columbine). And it turns the average school from a soft target into a very hard target.

Since nearly all the damage occurs within minutes in a shooting of this nature arming the teachers and administrative staff is the real answer.

QED

I agree.

Liberals don't understand we want to protect children too... The difference is liberals believe in group solutions of a grandiose global nature - ban all the guns - pass massive new laws. They see themselves in terms of 'grand'... larger than life. Elite and superior - beyond the rest of us who are mere mortals.

We - traditional Americans - live in the real world - a not so grand world - and know each school must become a difficult target for a potential killer. And that's done by creating a hard target, not by passing laws against guns. Killers have a way of not respecting laws... they don't respect laws against murder - or laws against using a gun.

We need to work on ways to divide the United States into two countries. Liberals hate us and see us as standing in the way of all their dreams - and we don't like them either. It's time to recognize irreconcilable differences and call it quits. We can protect our children our way - and they can pass 'pie in the sky' laws...
