I am glad I stocked up so that I have a lifetime supply of 100w edison bulbs.
I have a very effective suggestion for you. Unplug everything that is not in use! You’d be amazed at the savings. I did that, excluding the fridge, stove and main TV dvr area and the result was a 66% reduction in the KwH usage! It was such a large reduction that I could not believe it and had to run the numbers several times.
Later I did do some research and found that nearly everything is an electricity vampire when plugged in. The exceptions are lamps, but everything else uses electricity when plugged in but turned off.
Now that I have been living the lifestyle, it is not really very difficult at all. When I use the microwave, I plug it in and use it then unplug it. Same for coffee maker, washer dryer, etc.
Give it a try, you’ll be shocked! (pun intended!)
What’s that going to do to my PCs?
I can plug them all into a block and switch it off when I’m not using the various desk/laptops but wonder if I’ll have boot issues.
I don’t think it will cause them any issues, but I am not certain. Check with a techy for that. I do know that my laptop isn’t constantly plugged in and it is fine. In fact, it is designed to function that way...However, I am not sure about desktops.
Okay.
I’ll take a couple hours and rearrange my cords and see what happens.
Thanks!
Keep me posted! I’d love to see if your results are as astounding as the savings that I realized.
