'JustMyImagination', a NEW RED STATE, what name, place,,Hybrid Status ala PuertoRico?
Friday, the day named for Venus! | Floyd A. Logan

Posted on 01/04/2013 2:02:21 PM PST by San Rafael Blue

Let us exert our capacity to perceive what is or is not possible. Let us suspend all disbelief for one flickering, scintillating, inconsequential moment. Just imagine, my fellow conservatives and traditionalists, just imagine, that we somehow do pull it off, this distant sparkle of a notion being secession from the United States and creation of a new land.

Imagine, if you will, that somehow, before the next fifteen years has passed, we are able to create a new state within this grand and fruitful plain, a virtual Picture In a Picture. Yes!, we have created a new land, within the United States, that is to be governed by the Bill Of Rights with varying ammendment, modifications, and clarifcations, most all governmental metastasies, redundancies and bloatments now removed.

Imagine that it is so, and is legal, with the Jurrasic Post American Supreme Court having exhausted it's resources. The tsunami of blood coloured propaganda long since crashed and diminished in the power to influence through shock or intimidation. The overkill of leftist are momentarily done with calling us the nutty savages. The fretful GOP reduced to labling we new Americans as Sons of Chuckleheads, works feverishly, to publicly sever any (open)ties to our cause. Ou cause is based on seizing both the land and the most opportune moment. The pendelum of public sentiment swings low, as with Damocles, therefore we must hesitate no longer.

Somehow, with the smoke cleared, and all perfunctory fits of hysteria now cleared, we have done IT.The birth of a nation has been set into motion. The Charters have been written, The lawyers have been paid or paid off. One of my questions would be catagorized as pedestrian and pragmatic; What shall we call the New Red State? Is this indeed a State, or should it be a country?

Think of Europe, one main continent with many countries, one basket with lots of easter eggs, some unbroken, some scrambled, some with yellow chicks emerging, some with dead ducks now rotting. All the little eggs of europe being poached and broached and beaten by the oil spillers of the Euro. Think of Puerto Rico, which has been receiving many advantages of being a US territory although it is not (officially) a state. A feather-bedded sort of limbo, at least for the growing middle class. So that is my first group of questions , the name and status. Next question is where? Many Tea drinkers, NeoCons ,fellow Chuckleheads and those who love them bring up Texas as a good place to become re-born as a New American, I say, that may work, but what about the Dakotas, North Dakota, to be specific. We can encourage those who are young, fit, technically expert or adventerous enough to start a new life in a somewhat sparsely populated area. I don't care what anyone says to me or about me, but I thought a great deal of Mitt Romney, and would like to have him or someone recommended by him to advise us. I respect his values, such values I don't have to that degree. People like him are made to do things or to help produce long lasting results. These sort of folks do not make the best salesmen in a sound bite Karadashian sort of culture we are now subjected to. Somehow, we need to ake it 'cool' to do what is good for the family, community and society. Each person has direct influence on their social environment. Think of Marco Polo and the Wandering Jews, sounds like a realistic sequel to an overlong farce.

My guess would be start with Texas and annex adjoining land as local conservative populations succeed from their counties and states (e.g. Missouri minus St. Louis, Illinois minus Chicago, Indiana minus Gary etc).

We’ll need a route to the sea, preferably two (take the St. Lawrence seaway via Wisconsin, Upper Peninsula and northen New York), raw materials, energy (mainly nuclear), arable land and millions of hard working, self-reliant patriots. Eventually the liberal areas will shrivel and die (see Detroit) and beg us to reconstitute them. Maybe in a 500 years after all the garbage is bred out of what is left of their un-civilization.

Actually, what we REALLY should be doijung in Red states is splitting them apart into states and make each new state have the same population as Wyoming.

We would literally control the Senate almost instantaniously!!!!

It wouldn’t hurt us in the house either as the house representation would be about the same.

Imaging the state of East, Central, and West Kansas!

That would add 4, Red senators!

Multiply that by about 20 red states and the Libs would be running scared and would want to kick themselves out of the union to which we would “reluctantly’ say, okay, i guess....

That would add enough people to the federal and state government payrolls that the Democrats could defeat those Senators when they ran for reelection

Would it be easier for countys to join other states vs. states leaving the union?

I think we could split the red states up and take an iron grip over the senate!

There are a lot of articles like that ~ folks continue to express exaspiration with boundary lines laid down a hundred years ago.

On the other hand, many of the most troublesome lines were literally specified in the Treaty of London (1604), many of them in the codicils appended to it as facts unfolded.

The Spanish, as the originator of that treaty (No, the Brits didn't beat them and force them to accept the treaty) had an obligation to differentiate some of the broader regions in some manner.

There's Acadia ~ it's bounded on the South by Virginia at 42 degrees ~ which is bounded on the South by Carolana. There's a sort of indeterminancy regarding the border between South Carolana ~ and Florida ~ which was carried over well into the 1800s! Somebody stuck Georgia in there later without worrying all that much about the borders BTW.

The boundary between New France and Acadia was not ever drawn, but the boundary between Spanish territory in what is now Western Canada and New France was actually surveyed in part. The treaty provided that France get the watersheds of the rivers flowing into Hudson's Bay. There's a Bench Mark placed there by the surveyors near Alexandria Minnesota ~ Kensington Stone ~ read it in Gothic not Norse, and recall that the King is Filipe II/III of Spain ~ not Hamlet in Denmark.

That line runs roughly NW to the 55th parallel ~ and that terminates in the West at the initial boundary between Russian Claims and Spanish claims ~ at almost the opening to the inland passage. Survey designers noted that the precise location would be decided on later (it turned into 54'50").

Where feasible as the land was subdivided or otherwise developed these Eastern lines were surveyed as far West as possible ~ usually to the Rockies. Benchmarks were established for later validation.

Much of the surveying appears to have been done by a Scandinavian company employed by Spain ~ possibly because they were, at that period, pretty much neutral regarding North American real estate questions ~ they didn't attempt a formal colony until 1638, although their surveyers were present as early as 1598 ~ maybe earlier but I can find no references to any of them before that time.

Later on Spain seems to have attempted some formal settlements in Illinois, and probably Ohio in the 1600s ~ this may have something to do with the discovery of both coal and gold in specific areas. There are town layouts for the very oldest town sites that follow the Spanish Law of the Indies and that clearly show division by 100, 1000, or 10,000 arpents! Some of the surveys were so good that when the American surveys came through the areas in the 1800s the old Spanish surveys were left where they were and included in the new surveys as best they could be.

Liberal hate us.

If they know we want out - they'll be more than happy to let us leave. Let's work with them to end this horror.

Someone needs to take this idea over to DU - we might finally have common ground. We don't want to live with them - they don't want to live with us.

We can do this.

Liberals see us as people who want to own guns, defend ourselves, and take away their right to abort children.

They also see us as kill-joys who want to stop them from raising the minimum wage, want teachers to be qualified to teach and want to take away their right to force people to pay union dues.

When we tell them we want out, I'm sure they'll hold the door open for us. Without us standing in their way, they can open the flood gates and allow every third world 'immigrant' to come here and be cheep labor for their elites. It'll be banana republic all the way...

Trust me, liberals hate us... they want us gone as much as we want to be gone.

Liberals in red states just need to swap out with conservatives in blue states...the northeast is predominantly liberal/marxist/communist...that’s where they should go, a la the ‘Free State Project’...

Or - all other things being equal - with two job offers - take the red State job...

We need to enlist the help of DU - they hate us. They would love to see the country split. They could implement ALL their ideas the day after the split. I assume the Blue United States won't bother with elections - knowing how 'liberal elites' are so much smarter than mere citizens. ...
