When Jonathan Edwards described the awakening in his church, he had to use words like “surprising,” “extraordinary” and “astonishing.” The Bible says of the early church that “awe came upon every soul” (Acts 2:43). We can’t program that into our worship: 10:45 am – Awe comes upon every soul.

Since revival is of God, we should pray for it. But how? The Bible teaches us how to pray; Isaiah 63:15-64:12 is a biblical prayer for revival.

I urge all believers to heed these words. I am going to try to spend a little less time bitching and moaning about the world on these boards and more time on my knees asking God to intervene.

He may save the remnant, or He may send judgement on us all. The rain falls on the just and the unjust.

But we need a spiritual awakening, FRiends. Let's do what we can--in the corporeal and in the spiritual. Leave neither undone.

Rob Bell apparently thinks hell is not real...a heretical teaching.

But the new pastor at the church appears to have rejected that lie.

Agreed. And I think that we need to pray for a Great Awakening that will surge through all the churches, Catholic and Protestant, Mainline and Evangelical.

It has happened numerous times in the past. And it does sometimes surge from one church into another. The revival led by John Wesley not only awakened the Methodists, but also swept through the Church of England, which had virtually died in the 18th century.

But it is certainly true that only God can bring about such a revival. And without one, it is very hard to see how our country can recover its moral values.

I think you need to read Rob Bells book for yourself before
passing judgement and then do a study as well on exactly
what the Bible says about hell, don’t forget to use a
hebrew/greek app like e-sword (free online) to help
get the actual translation.
This issue is the real one, the reason we have the Govt.
we have is because God put it there to judge a country
of unbelieving sinful Christians who have walked away
from God and their new covenant with Him just like the
Jews of Jesus day did and He judged them in 70A.D.
destroying their temple, NEVER to be rebuilt.
Because the new temple of the new covenant is Jesus
living in the hearts of men. And it’s that SELF
Government that is supposed to rule the planet that
He made and we Christians are to bring forth Gods
Government and His Kingdom through the transformation
of souls and taking the kingdoms of this world in His
name. But when we allow the liberal tripe to pollute
our society, a society that we are supposed to rule
with His authority, then Judgement is the reward for
our not believing that that is our job. Long story
short,,, Obama and the Communists are our own fault
and sent by God to remind us just WHO ACTUALLY OWNS
THIS PLANET. Revival hell, we need Repentance.

The records of George Whitefield show that he preached to nearly the entire population of the Colonies at the time. Including slaves which were saved in great numbers. I think according to records he was the first preacher of the gospel that did so. Blacks today most likely owe their christian heritage to George. He helped Ben Franklin start the University of Pennsylvania. Which to the Penn hospital system and God, i owe the life of my girlfriend, who, without that hospital (and God) would not be here today.
