CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A teenager who says he is the son of a U.S. Senator, and grandson of a former Presidential candidate, was arrested Saturday night at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
William Hilton Paul, 19, was then transported and booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail.
Sources at the Mecklenburg Co. Sheriff's Office say he identified himself as the son of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky. Senator Paul's father is former Presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Paul was also charged with Disorderly Conduct and being Intoxicated and Disruptive.

BTW The USAToday headline says Sen. Rand Paul. NO mention in the headline of it being his son.
Must’ve been one of those “don’t you know who I am” moments.

I believe that if the spawn of an elected official gets busted and tries to get off by claiming to be the sapwn of an elected offical (Don’t you know who I am!), the penalties should be doubled.
These morons should know better.

The kid sounds like a punk. Another typical Senator’s kid. Hang him, especially for his attitude.
At least one story said he was arrested for underage drinking. I wonder if anybody on the airline got arrested for serving alcohol to minors, or if he smuggled the booze onto the plane?
I generally dislike the drinking age laws, but you shouldn’t get drunk in public, so I wouldn’t use this case as one to fight over.
In my day, a 19-year-old was allowed to drink beer and wine in my state. It is absurd that the drinking age is 21, and the voting age is 18. If people are too stupid to drink responsibly, they are too stupid to be trusted to vote.
In reality, we do almost nothing to stop 18-21 drinking, and everything in our society ignores that with a nod and a wink, from colleges, to movies and TV.
Which means we teach our kids that laws are stupid and should be ignored. I’d prefer we fix the law to be what we will accept, and make penalties for harmful actions be harsh.
But since so many people who make laws are likely to drink and cause “accidental harm”, we will continue to treat drunks as if they have little responsibility for the harm they cause, relative to that same harm caused by sober people.
If my dad was senator from Kentucky, I would probably be full of white lightning too.
