BOULDER — Several hundred people turned out for a vigil in Boulder for an elk killed by a police officer.

Those honoring the dead elk on Sunday lit candles, sang and told stories.

The elk was fatally shot by a Boulder police officer, who has been placed on leave. An off-duty officer suspected of assisting in loading the animal’s body into a pickup truck is also on leave.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera, organizers wanted to give people an opportunity to grieve, celebrate and find closure.

I think this was the elk that bit my sister a few years ago.

The take-home message is that if you want to round up Obama voters, just kill an elk.

When they get done grieving over that elk they can come to my place and grieve over the squirrel that got run over this morning. I am overwhelmed with grief and could sure use some emotional support right now. hahahahahaha

perhaps those animal activists should post the elk’s death on the twitter #gundeaths tracker pushed by slate magazine.

Just add all the animal deaths since they consider this murder too.

If an elk roast was not served or was wasted, that’s a damn shame, IMO!!

Attorneys for the dozens of other elk in the state who were killed by bears and wolves that day ought to file a lawsuit demanding equal treatment for their clients. :)

Hope so, need a lot to go with the whine. Man stupid runs deep with liberals. Its an ELK folks, not your spirit guide leading you to find closure, and celebration.

Tis rumored that once this was a Godly Nation, not a nation of little gods. Can not really tell at this point for all the idol worship.

Well, there’s a great big cluster of stupid standing in one place.

The only thing lacking with this picture is a sticker on the back of each participant saying “please taunt me and give me a wedgie.”

It’s to bad that someone didn’t show up with a Right to Life Sign. That would have abruptly ended the insane vigil for the dead elk?

I once dropped a peanut butter & jelly sandwich on the floor.
Although upset, I didn’t hold a candlelight vigil.
I’ll have to rethink that next time for the healing process. Sarc..

It appears no official report was made, and an off-duty
officer was called to come retrieve the elk for butchering.

They are still investigating.
The elk was known locally as “Big-Boy”, and normally roamed the area from what I understand.
