Hagel: 'Distortions about my record have been astounding'

Former Sen. Chuck Hagel says he looks forward to correcting the record after weeks of "hanging out there in no-man's land unable to respond to charges, falsehoods and distortions."

Hagel, in an interview Monday with the Lincoln Journal Star of Nebraska, said critics have "completely distorted" his record, fanning opposition that "took on a life of its own."

On Israel, he said his record reflects his "unequivocal, total support for Israel."

Don’t ya know they just misinterpreted what he said. Everyone knows that when he said black he meant white, and when he said down he meant up. It’s not that he hates Israel, it’s just that he hates Israel!

He should jaunt over to see Kerry-Heinz and develop a strategy to lie and mislead in the loudest terms, overwhelming the opposition in volume rather that facts.

Hagel’s most prominent trait is being dumb. Really, really, dumb.

Kerry didn’t really need to lie. Opposition to him sputtered before it got started. Hagel, contrarywise, caused Pubs to dig in and shout “You shall not pass!” Makes utterly no sense, except that familiarity breeds contempt and you are more likely to have more hate for opponents ideologically close to you, instead of ones you’ve already written off long ago.
