Pardon me, when did borrowing money on the backs of U.S. taxpayers to give to another country become a 'core principle' of conservatives?
Paul is in favor of ending welfare, at home and abroad. I thought that was a conservative principle.
I support that too.
But I also understand that in some cases, you need to provide military assistance and aid to strategic military partners, especially in sensitive areas of the world.
You want to end foreign welfare? Get us the hell out of the UN and get the UN out of America. Stop spending money on social welfare programs overseas - like Bush II’s millions to Africa to fight AIDS, or Bush I’s food aid to Somalian maniacs, or Clinton’s military assistance to the Serbians in the Balkans or Obama’s military aid to the Egyptians, Libyan Rebels and Syrian rebels.
But remember that military alliances with real allies, not people like the Egyptians and Saudis, is beneficial to US, which is why I support it.
The two Pauls have unrealistic ideas about foreign policy. America isn’t Switzerland.
