Not Even Close: 2012 Was Hottest Ever in U.S.
So declared The New York Times in an article almost dripping with self-righteous jubilation. This sentiment was also echoed at the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, Reuters, and many other media outlets. But could they all end up eating globally warmed crow?
According to Anthony Watts of Watts Up With That? that is exactly what they might be forced to do. The source upon which this "Hottest Ever" story is based is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). According to Watts' intensive research, it appears that the NCDC has been keeping two sets of data: one for public (and gullible MSM) consumption and the other the actual stats. Here is what Watts discovered:

But Al Gore is running with a heap of green for his house, having sold out his country to Islamic hate of the West. The Democratic Party really picks the slime of the slime as its candidates. His having been VP boggles the mind...until we realize we have something even worse occupying the White House now. The Democratic Party no longer is on the side of America. When will the ethnic groups wake up and realize that they are being royally screwed, too.

If you read through Watt’s original post, the skinny (as best as I can interpret it) is as follows: NOAA gathers monthly data from reporting stations, and before all the data is in, reports a “preliminary” average temperature for the continental US for a given time period.
Then, about two months later, when *all* the data has been collected and examined, they provide an official, updated value. Oddly enough, the revised data is almost always colder than the initial date that the press gloms onto.
So if I’m reading this stuff right, it’s almost like they’ve hired the same guys who do the unemployment figures (always revised upwards after the regime has gotten the best press they can out of crappy data) to do their “climate change” numbers.
I’ve been re-reading “1984”, and more and more I get the feeling that the MSM is quite happy to rely on Winston Smith and Ministry of Truth to do their reporting for them.
Hottest year on record, by far even. Yet I don’t recall a single news item all last year of animals having to be rescued and treated because of the heat.
However yesterday I read about sea turtles in NC that were stunned by the cold weather and needed to be rescued and treated.
Two sets of books are not exclusive to small businesses tired of being tax-raped; the left uses them all the time to further their agenda.
