People must write their state house Representatives and Senators, and U.S. Congress Representatives and Senators.

Find just a few choice sentences of the good writing here at FR and include those in these letters.

You do not have to win the argument, as much as you have to present to each of those elected officials, a simple set of statements.

Call or go see your friends, and ask them to do the same.

I recommend sending this in a letter:

Various wordings of the Second Amendment were tried during its development. The end result *purposefully* leaves out any enumeration of reasons why an individual has the right to keep and bear Arms. Any reason *why* an individual may or may not keep and bear Arms, was left to the states and the people thereof, to settle among themselves.

The only enumeration in the Second Amendment focuses on what to do about a group of men under Arms - what is to happen when individuals who bear military grade Arms are in a group, and they *are* capable of exercising martial power. What *then,* was to become of that power?

The answer was, that both the states and the federal government would rely upon *the group* being formally mustered, well-regulated, well trained to Arms, well discplined, and answerable to civilian authority.

Both the states and the federal government sought unity of function and preparedness of the militia of each state. The state militiae should be "well trained to Arms" and be capable of, and mindful of, lawfully exercising martial power and respecting lawful civilian authority.

The Founding Fathers correctly anticipated that any enumerated conditions for individuals, might be used as grounds for an individual to either, be forced to bear Arms, or, be stripped of their Arms. As was the case so many times leading to wars in England and on the continent.

Explanations are plentiful throughout history, Why the people must retain a balance of military power un-infringed by, and out of reach of, government and particularly a national government.

We will not surrender our right to possess a balance of power against the tide of ever-increasing government powers and nationalizing socialist police state tendencies; nor will we surrender our rights and our means for defending our selves, our families, our property, and our liberty.

Have you ever written a letter to a congresscritter? If you haven't then I can already tell to you the response that you will get:

You'll get a form letter that will state, more or less, "We appreciate your concern over ( fill in the blank ). Please fill out the enclosed form so that you can donate to my next election."
