New York Magazine ^ | January 9, 2013 | Kevin Roose

Jack Lew, President Obama's reported pick to replace outgoing Treasury secretary Tim Geithner, is known as a no-nonsense backroom negotiator with wonkish tendencies, who is admired on the left and grumbled about on the right.

A lesser-known but extremely pertinent fact about Lew is that he has the world's worst signature. And pretty soon, that signature could be on every single one of your dollar bills.

Whatever his other faults (and there are MANY) at least Jack Lew has the PERFECT signature to grace our devalued paper money. A series of zeros which is the direction in which paper money is moving.

Stop printing $1 bills. Mint more $1 and a new $2 coin instead.

They can eventually work up to the $1 Trillion coin.

The sound “BOINNNG!” comes to mind — like when the debt is extended so far, the economy breaks.

That’s a doodle, not a signature. Probably not legally valid.

That’s what OJ Simpson’s signature looked like for several weeks after he banged his elbow in 1979.

In June 2006, Lew was named chief operating officer of Citigroup's Alternative Investments unit, a proprietary trading group. The unit he oversaw invested in a hedge fund "that bet on the housing market to collapse."[21]

Plus, he's another Harvard grad. When will Harvard be seen as the cesspool of traitors that it truly is?

A "signature" is legally defined as "any symbol executed or adopted by a party with present intention to authenticate a writing." UCC 1-201 (38).

Now we know why cursive writing is not being taught in our classrooms. ANYTHING COUNTS AS A SIGNATURE... Now an retina scan or digital fingerprint etc etc may be required ID.

This guy’s name should be a palindrome. Signature looks the same forwards as it does backwards.

The Muslims are gonna complain that, like so many other random scribbles, it looks like the name of their moon-god.

I was fully expecting to say “you think his signature is bad, you should see mine”, but he’s got me beat. At least my squiggles somewhat conforms to the letters in my name versus random loops.

Never realized one could use signatures as a metaphor for the decay of a political system (think “John Hancock” morphing into “Jack Lew”).

That is what I have always wondered. I worked with one, when I was in the corporate world, and I ran circles around him on the financial ratios, management practices, and marketing strategies - and little ole me went to a small private college. He used to throw that Harvard education sh!t at me all the time - one time I told him he wasted his money - totally pissed him off.
