If New York bans “assault rifles” well then, New Yorkers possessing said items are criminals or crazy for not meekly turning them in. So it’s sort of a combo Yossarian-Solzhenitsyn-1984 dilemma.
The problem most of us have with the last sane Americans in New York and California turning the lights off and leaving is: NIMBY, keep on movin’ please. Blue state ‘Okies’. Man, there goes the neighborhood.

Blue state ‘Okies’.

I lived in Tulsa in the early 80s when the economy was fantastic. Other areas, however, were experiencing slowdowns and recession economies.

I remember the Mayor of Tulsa getting on-air and telling those in other states, 'Come on down; Tulsa has plenty of jobs and needs employees.'

They came. They came in droves. Every 3rd vehicle on the street was from another state. Most of the out-of-state license plates were from Illinois and Michigan, but many other states had moderate-to-low representation, as well.

By 1984, the recession was hitting Oklahoma. During the next few years, Tulsa was getting especially hard hit. The 'official' unemployment rate was list as 8.5%; the 'unofficial' rate was closer to 14%. Strip shopping centers closed. Entire shopping centers close. Residential areas with houses constructed the previous 5 years couldn't even give the houses away, and residents and builders were walking off and abandoning them.

I noticed some recent threads of states having surplus budgets. Texas is one. My advice. Be careful of exposing too much or you will get an influx. The trouble with those influxes is that many are Libs/Lefties who messed up their former state(s) and are looking for new areas to 'improve' and 'correct.' Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico are a few states that can show the results of that.

Some are already predicting that Texas will be 'blue' in less than a decade. I doubt that is because many life-long Texans suddenly saw the light and converted. No, it will be from the Lib/Leftist outsiders who come in and do the converting. They know how. Just ask Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico ...
